Computer crashing problem, please help.

Ok, just got back into Windows after another freakish restart!
My computer will restart when I try to open up SiSandra 2002 pro, or mid way through 3dmark2001 SE.
Why is it doing this?

System specs:
Asus P4B266
1.6A at 2.13 (with AS2 and Alpha cooling)
PNY TI4400
Crucial PC3000 CAS 2
WD 400BB (replaced in a matter of days with a WD1200JB)
Pioneer DVD, TDK CD-RW
Plenty of cooling in a Lian Li case.

So what is going on? Another thing, I can no longer OC at 140fsb, why is that. The cpu temp is low enough, and the case temp is fine.
It used to be able to do 140fsb, but now it can't. I have however flashed the BIOS, so that may have messed something up, but what?

Thanks for your help!

1) clear cmos and reflash bios while @ 1600mhz.
2) add vcore voltage?
3) set memory by SPD?
4) add DDR voltage?

HTH 🙂

let me know how it goes....kind of in same boat, but with my asus p4s333...the problem started when I took my p4 1.8 up to 2.6 then it started haveing problems at 2.4ghz which it ran solid for 3 weeks...

I had to lower vcore and it was fine....then a few more days later I could do less...once I got to 1.55 vcore I have been running solid for 4 weeks at 2.2ghz...

I was getting alot of illegal operations in programs...no bsod...most of the stack dumps list memory addresses I believe are assoc. with mobo....

Thugs had similar issue and fixed his mobo...I haven't tried yet...so let me know...

With the newer Asus boards, you can either use the standard P4 12v connector, or the "Asus EZ plug."
It allows you to use older power supplies with P4 12v hungry motherboards.

you know what im talkin about Duvie - the 3rd molex EZplug for the mainboard that some ppl say shouldnt be hooked up 😉

lets just say ....i have all 3 hooked up.

Now that is info I can use!

OK, I did the vcore uppage and that worked.
I now get 2133 stably, through 2320 (145fsb) but 2400 is a no go.
I get errors on boot. It is not a heat issue, but a voltage issue I guess.
Would DDR voltage help at all?
Thanks for the help.
