COMPUTER CRASHING!!! I NEED HELP!!

OK here's the deal,

I have a P4 2.4C Ghz, Asus P4C800 Deluxe, 128 MB Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro with 512 MB of TWINX CORSAIR with Windows XP. Currently I have all default drivers for all my components because the computer has no Internet access.

I just finished building this machine 5 days ago. Every single game I have crashes to the desktop or will freeze on me while in game.

Also during game play my computer will unexpectedly reboot itself randomly.

WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?! WHY IS MY COMPUTER DOING THIS???!!!?

Please if someone could help me on how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, without internet access it could be something as simple as needing the newest drivers for everything. I would suggest finding yourself an internet connection and getting everything downloaded and updated before you go driving yourself nuts. If you arent overclocking the video card there is no reason to assume that there is heating issues there. However, depending on how you installed your heatsink something could be suspect with that. As far as I know, all asus boards ship with PC probe or something like that. While you are waiting for internet access I would install that and fire it up. It has a feature that records CPU temps. So stress out your CPU. Play games and see what happens with your temps. After you do that, post your temps and we can go from there. Also, how many watts is your PSU?

ive been monitoring asus probe. Every time i look at it after playing a game or something the cpu temps were ranging from 108.5 to 114 and my mobo was like 84 to 87. im not sure what the temps of the other componenets are. I think i installed the heatsink correctly. I used artic thermal compound then mounted it to the cpu, then hooked it up to the mobo.

Celcius: CPU is 42.5 - 45.5 Mobo is 28.8 - 30.5

According to Intel's specs on your CPU you should be well within the allowable temperatures. My guess would be drivers. My suggestion would be to go here and download that program then put it onto a floppy or cd and take it home with you. Run it for a few hours and watch your temps. If you dont have any crashes after a few hours then it is definatly drivers. If it does crash or stop running then I would consider reseating your cpu. Make sure that you didnt use too much Arctic silver. A thin coating is best.

Kewl OK, i'll bring a disk tommarow and DL that program 🙂 I'm getting internet sevice tuesday so i'll update all my drivers then.

You haven't updated drivers? 😛

Small wonder. 😀

You'll just have to go gameless until Tuesday then.

But if you have no internet access, how are you posting? 😕

Back off on your memory timings. Try 2.5-3-3-8 at 2.7 volts and see what it does.

Also, do you have a high-quality power supply?
