Computer cleaning?

Recently, I bought a computer from a local retailer.

Yesterday, I got a letter from this company
telling me I haven't had the computer "cleaned" and they
will do it for free as well as put in a new fan. This is all
out of the blue - no problem with any fan that I know of.

Can anyone tell me
what they may be up to? Is this just an excuse to sell
me stuff?

Sounds like it needs an extra fan or a different fan for some reason and they are using the cleaning as an excuse. If it's free I'd let them do it.

just make sure they dont break anything. if you do it, test the computer before they leave. make sure they dont switch out any parts and put crappier parts in there, so they can sell them or something. if i were you, just say no. i mean, just clean your computer with canned air and a vacuum, but make sure you dont spin your fans with the vaccum.

Not in electronics but else where I have worked in the commercial/retail sector and here's what I think.
There might be an issue with the fan and this is just a simple way of not having a recall or maybe there might be a known problem elsewhere that thay want to fix w/o saying so.
That way, they CTA and you are no the wiser. I would do it. I live in a paranoid world at times and know there is no free lunch 😉

If you decide to jump on the offer, make sure that they will allow you to watch as they work on the PC. If not, then I'll pass.

Make sure you spill some Cheetos in there just to mess with them.
