Computer Chair Help

Currently using a $30 chair from somewhere that is killing my back and the height adjustment does not work.

I am looking for a chair that is comfortable (although all the ones I tried at Office Depot felt amazing compared to mine) and that will not loose its comfortability after time. I sit in a computer chair for 5-8 hours a day.

Price range 0-$250 (I know this is small; but I'm a college student)

I picked one up at Staples for next to nothing. You're going to have to try them to find one that fits you. Price is really no indicator of what's going to be comfortable for you.
 
I'd look more at a task style chair than an 'executive style' chair. What the above poster says is right, but then you're not going to find out whether a chair really works for you in a few minutes. Either take the opportunity to test in-depth if you can, or if you can't look for good budget buys. IKEA can't be bad, but again I'd avoid that particular style of chair.

I'm sure a bunch of wonderful posters will direct you to used Aerons. Avoid the temptation.

I'm sure that you could have made your point without throwing out gratuitous insults.

Is seriously check ebay. I got real legit Herman chairs for $300. These guys buy out these chairs from companies that are closing their doors.

Yea I honestly find everything comfortable due to sitting on a POS for the past 2 years.

Does anyone have experience between Mesh style and Leather?
 
Farts dissipate faster on a mesh style. Material is less relevant for comfort than shape fit.

Most of these bargain-basement Herman Millers are clapped out junk. As long as you don't flat out abuse them H-M's can look decent until they're totally unusable, but wear and tear does definitely play a factor in the non-ergonomic chairs becoming even less ergonomic. It's just that those who buy those secondhand ones don't realise because they've never had a new one.

These aren't beat up, they are barely used. Besides, Herman's are completely rebuildable unlike all of the junk at staples, ikea, etc and won't cost an arm and leg either.

Using similarly worn replacements from ebay no doubt, if you're suggesting this as an advantage.
 
The Boss chairs type are for sitting, reclining back while "blabbering".

To work on a computer you need something that support your back while you are sitting in front a Keyboard and working.

As for mesh style vs. leather. If you tend to get some body parts "sticky" when sitting for long time, the Mesh is a better solution. Otherwise nothing beats real leather.

I don't know why people choose the unergonomic turds that the Aerons are. The Embody's are at least a bit ergonomic.

I guess it's the same reason why people with tin ears choose Beats, or people who never actually knew exactly what they wanted despite supposedly knowing a lot about computers choose Macs. It's a brand with a particular marketing clout behind it for a particular consumer.

So because the Aeron doesn't work for you, it must not be ergonomic and it can't possibly work with anyone else right?

I sat in one for years at a place I worked and it was a great chair when it was adjusted correctly.

The best one for the buck I bought and yes I shopped around in stores and online and the best one I found was at costco.
 
I have enjoyed the same Swedish office chair (Ekornes Stressless) for about 15 years. I have even had the arm pads reupholstered. It swivels, it reclines, and I have enjoyed many a nap in it. I bought it at my local Copenhagen store.

Finding a chair that fits and is comfortable is a personal thing. I would never buy it on line. I would plop my butt in as many as it takes in all the local emporia, not just office stores. When the right one caresses your butt and back, you will know it.

This makes me to rethink and buy a lazy boy chair for my computer desk.
 
I just bought a "mesh task chair" at Office Depot on sale. It was the last blue one; all the others were pink! It's working very well for me so far, although I keep thinking about wrapping something around the middle of the back for additional lower back support. One other thing I was looking for was no arms - I like to get up and walk around a lot - and wiggle side-to-side - without anything blocking me.
