Computer cases w/ 400 watt AMD approved power supplies $37.90 shipped

Found this deal at Dealsonic

They have Dynapower cases w/ 300 psu for $33.95 and free shipping. Upgrade to the 400 watt option for only $3.95 more. The best I can decipher is that the 400 watt option is also a dynapower psu, but the 450 watt one is not. Dynapower is on AMD's approved psu vendor list. Seems like a pretty hot deal for a decent looking case and good power supply.

Info. on the power supplies can be found Here.

Add the Antec True430 and it brings the deal to $106.90 delivered, which is a good price for a quality PS and case.

Just because a particular brand of power supply is on the list of AMD approved power supplies, doesn't mean the exact model you are buying is on the list or even meets any of the AMD requirements. Some of these resellers are playing a little fast and loose with their definition of AMD approved. I'm not saying this is a bad power supply and won't work perfectly fine, just don't put too much stock in the "AMD approved" part of their sales pitch.

The 300W PSU that ships with the case is decent in my opinion. I have it running my OCed Tbred 1700+ at 1.9ghz with Visiontek Ti500, 52x cdrw, 4x dvd+r/rw, 20gb HD, and 120gb HD.

I thought any towe + power supply has a AMD male power plugin is OK for any AMD motherboard? Correct me if I am wrong and please explain!

I am thinking of getting this case from newegg with the 300w psu for $30 shipped. Is the psu okay quality? Would that be good for a 1800+ (stock), epox8k7a, geforce 2 gts, 13gb hard drive?

I read somewhere that an AMD approved power supply means that the power supply has ventilation or fans on its bottom.

SimMike2 has it right....

You will find that you can have problems using a no name brand PS. Or a cheaply made one. The new motherboards require well made PS's. I have found more and more PS's are not up to the task.

That does not mean that this particular PS is not going to cut it. Has anyone else run this PS without problems?

The Antec truepower supplies are worth the extra $$ generally. Mine are very quiet, and have received excellent test reviews.

Free shipping, cases WITH ps's, sounds hot to me!

Ya, I am pretty sure AMD approve only means it has ventilation on the bottom, it has nothing to do with the quality of the PSU. So if i would you, after getting this case i will certinatly get more reliable PSU

Yeah, the power supplies that AMD actually approve start at about $75.

Not a bad deal at all.

If you worried about a power supply, you can try this one. I'm using it right now with a XP 2100+ without any problems, plus 2 HD's, Floppy, 2 optical drives, ATI 9500 PRO, 2 fans and a partridge in a pear tree. 🙂

BTW, Channel Well is the company that makes Antec's power supplies. 🙂

Not to sound like the PC building newbie that I am...but...can you ventilate the bottom of a power supply by using a punch or a drill press? I've bought some components, namely a VIA KT333CF AK38N Shuttle MB, AMD 2500+ XP Athlon Barton Core processor, and a 10-Bay ATX Silver/Grey Bezel Case w/420W power supply from Computer Geeks a while back. After receiving the case, I noticed that the ad says "not for use with AMD processors" even though the ATX form factor is correct. I assume it's because of the lack of ventialtion for the power supply. Any input is welcome!
