My friend wants to buy a computer after he puts some speakers in his car. He told me that his budget is 1200$ Canadian. Ive build a computer before but I really dont know what he needs.

So the budget is 1200$Can withOUT a screen OS. He wants to be able to play CS 1.6, Diablo 2 and Battlefield 1942/2. If it was everything except BF2 I could of prolly done it myself but I dont know what to put in there for BF2.

Thanks in advanced

Well... the only big hint with BF2 is to go with 2Gb of RAM.

I think you'll get a lot more responses if you spec out a system first and have people give hints/changes, rather than asking people to create an entire system for you ;)

Ok.
Well this is what I was thinking

AMD64 S939 ASUS A8N-E NF4 ULTRA PCIE
Western Digital 200GB
AMD ATHLON64 3200+ 2.00G/1600/512K/S939 90NM
LEADTEK PCIE GF7 7800GT EX 256M VIVO BOX
OCZ 400MHZ DDR NO-ECC 2048MB Kit
CASE ATX ANTEC SUPER LANBOY ALUMINUM NOPS
Antec True Power 430W
DVD drive

I might cut down to a 6800 if the budget gets too tight. Right now thats 1285$. I dont know where I can cut things down but keep itgood.

There will prolly be some OC'ing but not alot. Im sure the value ram will be able to go a bit with some dividers.

Which comes to around 1200$ but it can prolly go lower with another store.

eVGA 7800gt
x2 3800
i forgot the name of it but the DFI board for $130 or the epox 9npa+ for $100
g.skill value ram (2 x1gig)
fortron 400w
name brand DVD drive

that's around $940 US

that leaves $100 for case and hdd

Looks good, but I'd swap the Truepower 430 for a Fortron 450 Watt (should be a bit cheaper), get Corsair valueRAM instead, and see if there's a cheaper but still good brand of 7800gt (eVGA or XFX maybe?) Also, what store are you getting these prices from?

The board you're thinking of is the Ultra-D :)

The warranty is worth the extra cash, eVGA has the best, followed by XFX, aparenlty the eVGA allows for 3rd party HSF as well as overclocking which the XFX allows for.
