Hello everyone,

I am building an Intel Core i7 920 computer for music production and not gaming. Software I use is FL Studio and Protools as well as plugging in instruments to the computer for recording. I need a computer system that won't bogg down when I have all these softwares and plug-ins open. I already bought some parts and I am looking to spend $500 more, but no more than $600 more.

Once again, I am not a gamer, but when it comes to overclocking, I might do a small overclock, but I will not be overclocking like most gamers do. Any recommendations for a good thermal paste?

Ok, please Click this link to see what I own so far http://secure.newegg.com/WishL...ishListNumber=11279692

Here are the parts I am going with so far http://secure.newegg.com/WishL...ishListNumber=11280052

I still need a Motherboard, Sound card, Memory & Heat sink. Here are category links to all the parts I have been recommended and researched. Please choose what you think is the best and I will pick the one with the most votes.

Video card, I own the VisionTek 4350 ATI Radeon, I think I am going to stay with this.

Video Card List http://secure.newegg.com/WishL...ishListNumber=11270752

Motherboard List http://secure.newegg.com/WishL...ishListNumber=11270712

HeatSinks & Coolers List http://secure.newegg.com/WishL...ishListNumber=11279852

Thank you all again for your help and assistance.

Sound card: Not sure, but personally would not buy anything with Fatal1ty name
Memory: OCZ Gold
Mobo: Gigabyte UD4P
HSF: Mugen 2 with OCZ Freeze paste

I would choose the HAF 922 over the Storm Scout, it is a little roomier and has better cable management.

Actually, I am leaning towards the OCZ Gold. When it comes to a sound card, what would you recommend? What do you think of those brands in my list? I deleted the creative ones. Why did you chose the Mugen 2 and the OCZ Paste?

Does the HAF 922 come with any dust filters? The one thing I like about the Scout is it has dust filters and I like the handle.

I found some combo deals for Memory and Motherboard. Let me know what you think.

Also, what do you recommend for an OS Vista 64bit Home Premium for now and get the free upgrade or Win 7 RC now and then upgrade to win 7?

If Win 7 RC, is it compatible with a lot of programs and stable?

I really don't know anything about sound cards. I haven't even read any reviews or comparisons.

I would check your software to find out if they have any compatibility or incompatibility lists for both the hardware and OS.

I chose the Mugen 2 & OCZ paste because they are both good performers and come at a very reasonable price.

My choice of mobo & RAM remains the same, just take them in the combo.

The HAF 922 has a filter on the drive bay covers and the front intake fan.

Thank you theAnimal. Much appreciated. I am kind of switching gears with the memory because of the low CAS, which I learned is important. Here are some more combo deals with the OCZ Platinum Series. If there are other memories with a low CAS you would like to recommend please do.

If you can have another look at these theAnimal I would be thankful.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?ItemList=Combo.209919 so far I am thinking about this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?ItemList=Combo.207807 this one is a possible second.

Some of you might of been recommending this motherboard with this type of memory, but The only problem I see with that mother board, unless I am wrong, is that the memory standard is Memory Standard DDR3 2000 (O.C) / 1866 (O.C) / 1333 . I don't see compatibility with the 1600

The default memory speed for Core i7 is 1066, 1600 is generally only used for significant OCing although you can also simply change the memory multiplier. The Platinum is slightly faster, but nothing that you would notice without benchmarking.

If you have a brand preference for the mobo, by all means go with that. ASUS, EVGA and Gigabyte are all good choices.

Thank you. But if there was one you would choose, which one would it be?
