Great article. Seems like I will just continue to use my Audio L/R RCA to receiver for my cable box.

My next step is to buy a DVD Player. I have one in mind, and when the price drops to around $55-65, I will buy it. Is there anything else I should focus on getting for my stereo system? Maybe a better power connector?

Seems like a DVD player is the only thing left, maybe a CD player after that, but that isn't necessary.

A quality surge suppressor (not UPS) for your AV gear is a good idea, but you just need an APC, Tripp-Lite, or even Belkin, no need to spend more than $15-25 on one.

You don't need a separate CD player, modern $60 DVD players have better electronics than the $200 CD players of a few years ago. The one possible weak point (cheap digital to analog convertors) can be avoided by just using a digital connection to the receiver, which you want to do anyway for 5.1 sound in movies.

That's a safe choice for the DVD player. And yes, DVD changers are still pretty expensive compared to single-disc players.

It sounds like the next step for you is to just sit back and enjoy your sound :)
