Computer at work

I just give myself an upgrade for monitor at work! the monitor I have been using for the past 6 months was just totally sh1t! I hate looking at it, the color all washed out and faded. that monitor must have over 5 years on it.

3 month ago, I asked my boss for an upgrade. I told him the monitor was giving me strain on my eyes which it was. 1 month ago, I finally got the approval I need for a new monitor from my boss, because he said he need to get approval from his boss.

anyways....I made the order on the company website for new tech hardware and that was 2 weeks ago. I waited 1.5 week and ask my boss did he approve it. He said he had problem making the approval to go through. I didn't press him for that. I finally got too fed up. There is a very nice NEC monitor sitting right next to my desk which seems to belong to another group.

I don't give a sh!t anymore, so I just swapped it and be done with it when most people are gone (6:30pm here right now). my boss is off today. I wonder what he will have to say tomorrow when he comes back.

I am totally in love with the monitor right now, cursing myself why I didn't the swap it sooner.

I almost bought a new mouse for $8 when I saw it on slickdeals, but the reviews showed crappy reliability so I didn't do it. That was a day before I got this mouse. I don't know if I'm motivated enough to buy myself a decent mouse for work.

I just brought my own keyboard and mouse. G15 and G5, same as I have at home. I was tempted to buy two 3007WFP-HC's when I upgraded at home, but there's a big difference between $100 worth of personal hardware at work and $650.

I work for a screen printing company, and when I started here I was working on an old Apple 800mhz G4 from way back in 2002. What a piece of ancient history. Try running Adobe CS3 on that, and I was damn near crying. Thankfully, my boss upgraded to a new Intel Power Mac after about a year of complaining.
So, I know the feeling of long overdue upgrades and the immense satisfaction when you finally get what you want.
And I found a spare 19" CRT laying around that I use as my DualView monitor. That was an unexpected upgrade!

A 22" LCD is $150 on sale, I bought two. Not because my work gave me bad monitors but because $300 increases my productivity, allowing me to go home faster.
