My friend runs win2000 and a 56k PCI modem, and connects to dialup AOL.

Her ordered a Verizon DSL modem, and I installled it (via USB), but the DSL service wasn't ready, so we unhooked everything.
But, after I disconnected everything, and the old modem doesn't work as it used to.
Recall, no DSL software was really addded, just the drivers for the USB DSL modem...(which is now disconnected)

Now he gets weird AOL errors, where the 56k modem dials, connects, but then gives a generic error message.

I configured an Earthlink dialup account, but that gives the following error:
error 720: computer failed b/c your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols....

Anyone know what's going on?
Let me know if you need more details

THANKS

you may be experiencing problems due to the DSL on your analog line....try putting a DSL filter between your modem and the phone jack....putting a regular dial-up modem on a line that has DSL can damage it, so be careful

I will tell him to try...

BUT . the DSL is not installed on the line yet.
After I installed the modem, tech support told me the line is not yet ready.
