Computer and PS3 to one set of speakers

I've got the Logitech Z2300 2.1 speaker set, and I want to run both my computer and Playstation 3 to it.

I'm using this adapter with my PS3, and this is the plug coming from the speakers. What kind of splitter do I need?

You need a splitter that is a female headphone jack to 2 male jacks.

You need the exact oposite of this.

Another option would be a combination of adapters. Get the above spliter. Then get the male version of the connector your using on the PS3. Then you use a cable like this to go from the PC to the splitter.

Either way you'll need that 1/8" male to 1/8" male cable.

radioshack has the exact splitters you need. i'm running my laptop and my ps3 through the same speakers.

Although you can use splitters for this kind of job, you can run into problems using them to combine two inputs into one set of speakers. I used to do this and found that the volume is much reduced on both - if I remembered my electronics knowledge from university better I could explain something to do with input/output impedance of amplifiers. Anyhow, connecting the outputs of two together kills the signal a fair bit, and this always struck me as a "bad idea". That power is being dissipated somewhere other than the speakers, which logically must be the output stages of the other sound source, and I'm sure it's not designed with that in mind.

I have a similar setup with my 360 and PC into the same monitor and set of speakers. I plug the sound output of the console into my soundcard's line-in, and tweak the volume on the PC accordingly for good balance. You need the PC on for sound, but a lot of folks PC's are on most of the time anyhow.

My PC is always on. What cable would I need to to run the PS3 to my sound card? I've got a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer.

A 3.5mm male-to-male cable. . .the same plug as is on your speakers on both ends.
