Computer always hangs while playing DivX

Hi,

my computer always!! hangs while trying to forward some divx movies with media player 9 / divx da player. I'm using winxp and these problems always occur!
some movies are working without problems and some not so I think it has someting to do with the decoder. I'm using divx 5.03 - I never had those problems before.

what the problem?

Hmmm...Marco, try downloading a utility called "GSPOT". It might be that you need some kind of other decoder that you don't have installed. GSPOT will tell if you have it or not. Past that, don't know. Hope this helps!

You need to download ffdshow. It's a compact but high quality DiVX decoder codec 100% compatible with Windows XP. I can e-mail it as an attachment for you, only 317kb in size. 🙂

I also used dx9,divx, wmp9 before reinstalling and all was fine. after a fresh reinstall these errors occured

What codecs do you have installed? I had an issue where mplayer2 (also WMP 9) would crash when I tried to play a Divx that used AC3 audio. What I ended up doing is installing only ffdshow, dsp2dshow, the AC3 codec, and then playing the files with Mplayer Classic. Filename is mplayerc.exe if you want to search for it, or PM me and you can grab the files from my FTP.
