Computer acting like the SHIFT key is on

Kelemvor

I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and can help me make it go away. My computer continuously acts like I'm pressing the SHIFT key even though I'm not. All of a sudden while I'm typnig things will go to caps and everything starts acting funny. I ran a virus check and SpyBot and nothing found anything. This is starting to really piss me off.

Please help. Heh.

Thanks

Probably as simple as your shift keys being faulty. Try hitting both a few times; they might be stuck. If that fails, just go get a new keyboard 🙂

You could have stickkeys on. I'm not positive what it does, but I think that you can press shift, and then it will act like a caps lock button, where you have to push it again to turn it off.

Activate/(Possibly get into stickykeys options) by presshing shift 5 times.

I had a client complaining about her kb acting weird - turned out she was repeatedly tapping the shift key out of nervous habit.

This bugs the crap out of me, I've never been able to turn it off.

Hold down the Shift key for 4 seconds to turn it off.

If you press CTRL ALT and SHIFT on both sides of the keyboard in a certain order (I forget it) and hold for a second it usually gets rid of it for me...

You could give that a shot...

happens to me too..not sure I've fixed it, I don't think any of those settings were causing the problem....I've got an X-arcade stick hooked up as well, I wonder if that is causing the problem sometimes...oh well...

Well to get it to go away when it happened, I'd just smack the left shift key a bunch of times and it'd stop for a bit. I never thought to smack the other shift key because I don't think it's ever been pressed. So I smacked them both a bit and it has gone away for now.

I guess if it comes back I'll try swapping a keyboard and see how that works.

this happens to me a lot with my microcrap board. i just slam it a couple times and its all good after that.

there's this thing called 'caps lock', they put it on keyboards back in the 70's.

They had them on typewriter before that. It was called SHIFT LOCK 😉
