How much faster is the little pc you are using at this moment versus the roomful of equipment in this picture? Magnitude?

If I were to revert to onboard video, my little PC is probably a magnitude of 1120 times faster.

My big PC is another story...

I assume that picture is of eniac (according to tineye). ENIAC = 0.05 MIPS (fixed-point only 😛), i7 @ 3.2 GHZ = 76,383 MIPS (wikipedia MIPS article).

76,383/0.05 = 1,527,660

So, one of the fastest chips in the non-server/consumer arena today is about 1.5 million times faster, not taking into account that you may want to do things other than fixed-point arithmetic with an i7 nowadays. My PC (Athlon X2 7750) is only about 380,000 times faster than eniac 🙁
