CompUSA Zip CD-RW status update from Compusa

Man, what the hell is going on? I got one shipment confirmation Tuesday which has a status of "Call Access Product Support" and another confirmation on a drive that I did not order apparently delivered to Brooklyn, though the confirmation shows my address.
 
Righthere, I mentioned this before but should have put a link in. You can check the status of any CompUSA order at: CompUSA order status The status won't tell who placed the order, what was ordered or where it was shipped, but it will show the status. It would be nice if people who receive their orders post the order number in case the rest of us need it later to fight CompUSA. I noticed a few people posting their order number BEFORE it was shipped. Be careful, a few people report getting a drive at the B&M on the condition the B&M store could cancel their on-line order. I'd hate to think any Anandtechers would use your order number for that or that CompUSA would be dumb enough to fall for that, but you never know who is lurking.
 
Fedex bought out RPS and made it Fedex Ground. They suck. They mis-delivered my package to someone two streets down from me. Different street number and street name. I called Fedex twice and they never called me back or investigated the mis-delivery. It took a week before the other person realized he had my package and brought it to me.
 
There is no way to know what orders have the CDRW drive on them.
However, I did a little checking of my own, and it seems to me that almost all orders before WB49559 now show shipped or cancelled.

That's about 50 short of my order, and there are alot of "Back Ordered" status after WB49559. Most the orders around mine show Back Ordered, so I assume that the few orders that show shipped where for something else. I looked at the order times around mine and it looks like the orders where coming in at about 5 per minute at 1:00 am 🙂 I'm sure most of them are the CDRW's since they are back ordered.







 
On a related note (going back to the rebate briefly), was anyone able to find and scan the physical rebate form at CompUSA that listed 12/30/00 through 3/31/01 as valid purchase dates? I'm probably not alone when I say that my local CompUSA didn't have any actual rebate forms for the ZipCD whatsoever! Apparently the ones online (from Iomega) are still of the through Dec 31st & Jan 1st through march variety.

And it's not looking very likely that my drive will arrive in time for me to get the "through Dec 31st" rebate in to Iomega in time, even if it arrives right around now. 🙁
 
Hey guys -- just chill. It sounds like CompUSA is doing this in a reasonably fair manner. Your burner will come! Maybe it's more productive to spend less time estimating the exact time of your shipment and more time finding other good deals?
 
Got email notice that my order was shipped yesterday.

Status: Shipped (on 1/24/2001)

And I too see the strange error that when clicking the link in the email to check status. It shows some bogus info about having shipped it to Seattle, WA on 1/15/2001 while I actually live in Maryland. I just called and the CSR confirmed that the info in the email is correct and the drive is shipped via Fedex.

So I guess they just messed up the links in the emails.
 
I received my drive this morning without email comfirming shipping and the site stills says backordered. So hang in there they will be coming.

The following CompUSA order (#WB503XX) was shipped on 1/25/2001.

Ohhhhh.....you were using the memorex 1622....now thats slow. You are now entering hyperdrive. You just jumped from the 60's to the 2000+. Good for you!😉
 
I'm 506XX, I wonder if mine will ship tomorrow? ... I sure hope so. Since they're in the 503xx's now ... That would really be great ... I could finally make use of my Iomega -> Plextor program (all that work will finally pay off!) 🙂
 
This is bs! WB50311-WB50323 have not shipped but on both sides of that they have been shipped. What the hell are they doing! fulfilling random orders! Mine is in the middle of that. :| Im checking my mail every minute to see if it is shipped!!
 
Only thing bothering me (OK, another thing bothering me) is that my order number is WB49419, places 12 minutes after offer went online, and mine has not shipped yet. Called yesterday and was told "soon". Looks like time for another call to customer support.
