it's quite obvious the sons of bitches at Com-Puke-SA are trying to weasle out of honoring this deal by delaying as much as possible. They can easily ship it but they want to sell it $279. What a bunch of jabronis.

StumbleBum1, Is that the same CSR that sid there were only 27 backordered a few weeks ago? We can't trust what they say.

Some people have already reported they only received one of two they ordered and were told that MAYBE the other would come later. Still other Anadtechers reported receiving all 3 or more on their orders prior to that.

Isn't there some law that says CC orders have to be processed within a month? Is it a coincidence that Feb 1 is one month from the end of the sale? I doubt it. I suspect that legally, there are no outstanding orders after Feb 1 whether they were shipped or not. So yeah, all "orders" would be shipped by Feb 1 will be a true statement even if they never shipped a single one.

The csr told me they had orders for over 8,000 drives and when I asked him if I could order one for$279.99 he said yes I could. He went on to say that they are treating the Dec 31 orders separately, then i heard CLICK he hung up on me. WHAT A BUNCH OF ASSh*LE'S!!!!

I called for fun just to see and they claimed to me they could have one ship out immediately for me.... I even went so far as to start saying a fake CC number then hung up. They claimed they could have it in my hands by wednesday (2day air shipping, process order over weekend since it is friday today).

Anyone want to send some info about this to PC World magazine? They occasionally do 'investigations' into stores (online or offline), as do a few other magazines. I'm sure they'd love this one, if the 'no ship at $129, but will ship at $279' part is actually true.

Maybe I got the good end of a very short stick, since my drive apparently shipped out yesterday, but still having to wait 27 days for a 'Ships in 24 hours' item is rather absurd. :(

I got the Plextor at Onvia.com. The price was $210 plus approx $8 shipping. The price has gone up to about $225 last time I checked. I ordered it online last Sunday evening and it was delivered at bout 3PM on Tuesday. Great service. They had about 4000 in stock at that time.

Hmmmm, mine shipped on Thursday. I think people are getting a bit too upset about this. I'm pretty sure that for once, CompUSA is going to do the right thing.

Slash3, my personal oppinion is that many of us will never see our drives, but until CompUSA says its official, it might not be a good idea to sick the dogs on them. If their lawyers get involved, it will only make things worse. Once its official we don't get our drives, I say nuke 'em.

To anyone who thinks that people waiting on these drives is overreacting: I strongly disagree. Compusa should have filled every last backorder before one of those units went up for sale or were distributed to the stores. Their handling of this matter is total BS, especially telling me that I was one of only 27 people who had a backorder coming.

Is COMPUSA shipping backorders based on order time? If so, what time are they up to so far? For a deal like this, I am willing to be a little patient... Note to those wanting to cancel their orders: 1) Iomega is turning the rebates around amazingly fast ~three weeks & 2) This drive is bitchin'! 6 min for a full CD, ultimate CloneCD compatibility and 32X rip... Not bad for $99.
