CompUSA TV Tuner Card with Remote Control, PCI

Not to piss on OPs post....
A quick heads up for anyone going for this, if you use the card with the included software they work fine, trying to use it with anything else was a PITA at best.

I bought 2 of these the last time they were $20ea in-store and they've been sitting in a box doing nothing.
They don't work with MediaCenter.

4GB for 20 mins?! Geez!

Yeah, wow!

The post in that link is very unclear and disorganized 😕
What is it?

Edit: Also, I read on one of the customer reviews on the product page and it said this card only supports mono audio. Can anyone confirm this?

if i get this card, am i going to be able to connect a PAL vid cam i have?? if so, am i going to be able to record the video from it?? thanks in advance

Yes its in Mono! which really bits
the TV quality is good and it gets ok DVD 720 x 480 recording rate. The other recording options resolution and quality are too lousy.
Not bad for around $20 but the lack of stereo really bites

Overall, I like my 7 year old ATI TV-Wonder a bit more because of the stereo feature. Haven't tried the remote control feature cause I got no AAA batteries, but I rather have stereo than a remote

This thing has quite a bit of CPU usage also. I'm on an old Athlon 1700xp, and just having this thing on uses between 33 to 40% cpu

Don't have this card but from my take would be he was trying to get you to read up on video compression in MPEG format.

But then another person said getting this card to work with 3rd party apps was a bad idea.

So, good luck. I guess you could buy a 400Gig HD for your storage needs from frys.

Then again, what do you expect for 30 bucks?

I've never owned a TV Tuner Card, can you actually watch TV on it? How many channels? etc... thanks
Let's say if you have no cable or sattelite.

It saves to DVD format ok. Mine is a little choppy I don't konw if its because my comp is too slow. But there are softwares that converts if anyone wants to go through the trouble.

Careful guys! From the reviews: "It freezes sometimes with windows 98"

I laughed.

Then I laughed even more when I realized that doesn't everything freeze with win98?

dew.

Let me guess. You haven't used win98 at all.
