Has anyone heard of Centon? This deal looks kinda warm, but how much is it before MIR? If its anything above 50 dollars, then tax kils it. Esp good for the budget systems, even if the chips do suck with low timings heh.

I've had centon back in the days of PC100. Worked fine for about two years, but then it crapped out on me. I don't know anything about their quality of late.

Centon has been good for me lately. Also, they've made good on their lifetime guarantee without hassle.

I won't touch Centon. Had a stick that was bad out of the box. Returned it, and the other stick I bought with the bad one originally went bad just after the RMA period. I use it open boxes. The good one is so bad at overclocking that I can't get it within site of an ASUS board (they tend to run a couple MHz above spec) or it becomes a crash fest. That lone stick sits in a Duron 750 boxen for folding. Surprisingly, it hasn't crashed yet with that stick.

Here we gooooo!

Don't know anything about Centon, but DDR400 is real cheap right now. You can get some Patriot for $38 after rebate or some Crucial for $45 shipped (my personal preference).

Ok, good deal on the hard drive. Next best I've seen is $90 out the door:

Another good deal on the Radeon:

RTPE: http://labs.anandtech.com/search.php?q=radeon+x800xl+agp

The GeForce 6200 is kind of a bad deal though, there are better cards for cheaper:

RTPE: http://labs.anandtech.com/search.php?q=6200%20agp&price=yes

Same with the motherboard; much cheaper at other merchants:

Hope that helps!

FWIW, I just had a system come through with a Centon 256MB stick, PC2100. Computer would bluescreen randomly and would not install windows XP from the CD. Replaced the memory and everything is fine now. I'll stick to Crucial...

I bought a stick of the Centon RAM that's on sale today to shove in a work machine. I couldn't take it anymore - damn pc had 256MB and would flail about anytime I tried to do anything. It's working, but as PC2100 in this machine (stupid Compaq Evo POS). It was worth it to me... I was trying to do work with a couple of 100+ page documents open, plus outlook, and a couple of terminal sessions and the machine just couldn't handle it. But with 768MB, I'm much happier. $34 AR + tax is a small price to pay for my sanity (like I have little of that left).
