I may be the luckiest guy on earth or this is a flaming deal! YMMV.

Went into my local Compusa this afternoon to pick up the combo pack of the MS force feedback wheel and joystick that they had in their ad today. The price was supposed to be $170 (after IR's), less a $40 Compusa bundle rebate and a $30 MS rebate on the wheel.

I sauntered up to the checkout and just about crapped. The kid at the register rang me out as follows:

MS FF Racing Wheel 89.99
MS FF Joystick 9.99
Tax 6.50
---------
Total 106.48
=====

The manager even came over to punch in some code to allow the steep discount on the joystick. He said they had been selling them for that price all day!

Now I can file $70 in rebates to get to a net cost of $36.48!!!

So did I just get lucky or is this happening in more than one store?

So wait it's too late here to go to any CUSA in my area but I was seriously going to get in on this deal. The one main thing was that I was wondering if there was any such peripheral that can change the connection to work on a dreamcast or other consoles? Northland, I'll be sure to check out the South Cally area to see if that pricing mistake is here too :)!

Several people have sent me PM to get a copy of the receipt.

Has anyone been able to get this deal? Perhaps a price match at Best Buy?

I am curious as to why the manager dropped the price. Is this one of those pricematches to Best Buy because they are pricematching CompUSA ?

I think he's spouting BS or the manager did some unique favor for him.

Here's a thread I started on the deal:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=657944

After everything, I got it down to $79. On their weekend flyer, they advertised the deal for $99 after rebates, but they missed a $20 rebate on the stick (which retails for 99.99, not 9.99--it is indeed the new forcefeedback 2, not the force feedback "pro" (the old model that came with Mechwarrior 3 which now retails for $70).

Hi,

I'll see if I can answer everyone's questions at once.

Kef7 - I purchased the combo at the Bloomington CompUSA.

Branded - I have no idea why they priced the pair at 99.99. Perhaps they were just stupid or were reacting to whatever Best Buy was doing. The hot deal here might be to go over to BB and see if they will PM the CompUSA ad (saving you the hassle of rebates). Personally, I would give CompUSA a run first to see if they give you the same deal they gave me (then try BB).

hansmuff - as richleader noted, it is the SW FF 2 model.

richleader - you are a doubting soul (I admire that). I sent you the jpg of the receipt through email. As I posted in your thread, where did you find the $20 MS rebate on the joystick? I didn't get any joystick rebate with the stick . . .

Good luck!

Northland - Did the joystick that you purchased come with MechWarrior 4 ? If so, I know why you got the instant rebate . I noticed on the weekly manager 's rebate sheet yesterday while the manager was looking for a rebate for the Jabra's that some stores did not have the advertised MS FF 2 joystick sku# 276453 in stock and were substituting sku# 288182 which is also the MS FF2 joystick but is the version that is bundled with MechWarrior 4. Stores that only had sku# 288182 were authorizd to offer an instant rebate on the advertised combo.

GetReal - the joystick sku# was 276453 and did not include MechWarrior 4. I originally picked up the version that did include MW4 and was told I was purchasing the wrong SKU number for the rebate.

Too bad they weren't out of 276453 . . .

i think i know what he is referring to...there is currently a $20 rebate avaliable from microsoft when you purchase the force feedback 2 joystick AND Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002...i dont think you can use it since its part of a bundle....but if the joystick UPC isnt being sent and u bought MS FS2002, might as well go for it.....

Thx Northland for the receipt. I didn't get a chance to go today, but this seriously seems like a good deal. The only problem I have is that I was wondering if both the wheel and the joystick were both force feed back and also if the wheel came with pedals. Gosh I need one with a clutch :p. O well I'll tryu it even though i can't afford it at the moment. Hah...I'm so broke....trying to stay away from this forum....crapolla...

DjBaMBaM - both the wheel and the joystick are force feedback and the wheel has pedals (gas and brake only).

ah6tyfour - I just sent the receipt to you.

thanks....got them while on AIM with DjBaMBaM also =)

could you possibly get a scan of the entire receipt? i think its more convincing to the managers when they see a receipt that kinda looks like a real receipt....maybe you can scan the whole thing and just use MS Paint to block out the personal info... the manager at my CompUSA has done pricematches offa receipts for me before, but i'm always given him a a copy of the whole receipt (to the point where the CompUSA imprint is visible throughout the receipt)....

if u cant, dont worry about it....the scan you sent had prices, SKUs, and store name, number, phone number, and address....i guess i can ask the manager to call the manager at ur store and ask what the price is.....

THANKS AGAIN!

He just forward me the copy of his receipt and it was real. I guess he got lucky. He stated that on his post and never said the deal was advertised so.

Does anyone has the link for the Joystick $20 rebate form?

Thanks.

So, someone help me out.... SKU #276453 is the COMBO? I just talked to a woman who has 16 in stock @ 79.99 !!!!!!!! Is this possible? I have 2 on hold, and cannot believe it?! Please tell me that this sku is both of them and not them seperately.... Thanks. -TAL

EDIT: Hmmmmm... It looks like that is only the one joystick and not both. Dang. Still NEED to have someone e-mail me the receipt scan..... apropeck@visto.com AND/OR apropeck@earthlink.net please..... If you pick one e-mail, pick the earthlink one, as I am not sure the visto one will be up for much longer. I need this ASAP please.... (I love you guys)
