OMG I swear they hire a bunch of idiotic monkies at compusa. Here's my story of the day...

I went to Compusa today to try to pick up RAM from this thread. So I walk into the store and look for the RAM, noticed that the place where they used to have it is gone so I go to ask a worker where they keep the RAM. There are three guys behind a desk and two of the just completly ignore me when I went to the desk. They weren't even doing anything and they just looked away. Well, one of the guys finally asks me what I want. He directs me to the place where they sell RAM.

So, here is where I get mad. I go to the little island place where they have it and there is no one there. So I'm standing there waiting for someone to come help me and no one will. All those workers and no one is at this little island. So I go out hunting and pull a guy in to try and help me. This is our conversation to the RAM.

Me: Hi, I just want to get some PC2100 RAM.
guy: uhh... PC?
me: yeah... DDR...
guy: hmmm... 2100? uhh...
me: yeah, i see it right there for 29.99
guy: oh ok

So the guy pulls one off the shelves and looks at it and then looks at me. And I just asked him if I could see it for a second. To see if they were samsung, infieon, or elixer chips. this guy just doesn't understand anything I'm saying and is clinging to the thing like i'm some sort of theif and I'm going to run off with it. So I finally cajole this guy to flip it over and I see that they are elixer chips. I say to him ... hey can I see the rest of the RAM? I'm looking for samsung or infineon chips.

So this is where I get pissed. This guy just doesn't get it and he goes down to "look" at the RAM for me. All he does is knock over all the RAM while he's down there and places them upright again and mumbles something about how I should just look online b/c they'll have everything online. I tell him that it's out of stock online. He goes ... uhh just check online man.

I don't get it. How can idiots like this get jobs at Compusa. He doesn't even know what DDR PC2100 RAM is and how to tell who made which chip. I mean I'm sure anyone on this board knows 10 times more about computers than this fuggin monkey I talked to today. It makes me so mad b/c all I wanted to do was look at the chips which would have taken less than a minute and this idiot doesn't even look for me but says he did. I just wanted to look and make sure I'm getting the best for my money, Is that a crime? So in conclusion ...

Compusa workers is suck.

CompUSA is okay by me. When I got in on the DC4800 deal last year, I bought my camera from CompUSA and then pricematched it with Amex Blue. I also got a 2-year warranty from CompUSA. All of which to say, sometime around next May, my camera becomes a $500 credit towards a new camera. :D

it's hard to find good employess at retail stores like that...

the turn over rate is big... and besides... they hire chicks there (J/K)

True. The one on Blossom Hill in SJ has at least one cutie working there. However, much like Fry's, you need to already know what you want before you walk in the store. Don't expect help from them, and certainly don't expect prompt and helpful service.

No I did not get the ram I wanted but, I'm heading back there there right now. I'm going to get pumped up Rocky style and just go in with a full head of fury and take no crap from no one and get what I want. If all they have are elixer chips than it's ok ... as long as I can SEE myself that they are all elixers. jeez they really should have some sort of aptitude test before you can get a job there .. like the CompSAT's or summat.


Oh BTW... I went to the Compusa in Duluth, GA.

i LOVE best buy. Given, i'm an ex-employee and i probably know more than 80% of the people there, but just because the store lacks knowledgeable associates, doesn't discredit the fact that they carry quality merchandise.

Ah OK.. so I go back to Compusa. And I've been doing that thing that everyone does... rehease scenarios in your head and write yourself a script of things you'll say and do. And I've got a killer script much better than that George Costanza jerk store thing.

Well I get there and I talk to this other guy that is behind the counter and I ask him if I can look at the chips for what I want. And this guy actually does what I asked. He pulls out all the sticks and lets me look at them ... all Elixir ... Blast my plans have been foiled again. Oh the irony of that first monkey being right. Well at least I have piece of mind now knowing 100% that they are Elixirs.

So I take it back ... Compusa is not suck ... just the stupid monkies that work there.

it doesn't change my opinion about compusa. They still suck. They have a bigger selection of products than Best Buy, but their return policy sucks and their markup on products is huge.

No one ever said that you have to be a genius to work at CompUSA. Getting help that understands the normal accommodations that a customer should be given is getting harder all the time. When that guy was dicking around you should have asked to see a manager. It's their job to train these people.

Yeah I should have ... but the first time i went there and that dood had no idea what he was doing I was just shocked. I couldn't belive what this guy was doing. He wouldn't let me see the sticks, he wouldn't even look for me, he had no idea what PC2100 DDR RAM was, etc.

jeez I just couldn't believe how stupid this guy was that I was just dumbfounded. As I was driving away I realized what I should have done. That happens to me all the time. I think about what I should have done about 10 mins after it happens.

Nothing is worst than BestBuy. I asked where their LCD's were and this guy points me to the dishwasher section.

CompUSA, just like anyother retailer, hires sales people, not product knowledgable<sp?> people. They'd rather have a moron w/sales experience than someone computer literate w/little or no retail experience. And no I'm not bitter that I didn't get hired there when I was looking for a job... :|:D

I'd rather consult the Magic 8 Ball for computer advice than 95% of the people who work at CompUSA, Best Buy, etc.,.

When I was shopping for a G4 I asked the guy if the G4's there had the ATi or Nvidia cards in them. He looked at me funny. So I just simply asked what video card the G4 had. Now that he understood what I was asking he started to prattle on about the GeForce card, and blah, bla-blah, bla-blah.... I swear he'd memorized the whole marketing blurb on the back of the GeForce box and was reading it back to me verbatim.
