Does anyone know what the "$150 Bundle Mail in Rebate" is that makes the monitor so cheap? If it's referring to the speakers that are attached to the monitor, then fine. If you have to buy something else with the monitor, then it might not be a good deal.

Fpsguy: For the compaq monitor(13inch viewable) the rebate is 150 dollars. But if you but an entire compaq system with a compaq printer you can have up to 200 dollars in rebate.
Hope that clears things up for you FPSGUY

I think the monitor is the only warm deal in the easter sale by compusa. I am getting it so that I can sell it along with my old system.
I am keeping my 17inch viewsonic crt, no way I am going without a monitor for my brand new system that I am building.

And maybe the 19.99 wireless pcmcia card.

So for the monitor I see the following:

$299.99 Regular Price
-$100.00 Instant Rebate
-------------
$199.99 Total

And then it mentions something else about a $150 rebate? Any where/what is that?

The $150 rebate is from Compaq. I bought this monitor last week for $199 and have already completed and submitted the $150 rebate form on the Compaq website, with hard copies sent out the following day. Got a submission # from Compaq to track the status. Pretty hot deal for $49!!

Also, I bought it at a military exchange store so no tax was involved!! Whoohoo!!

I hate thread crappers! If anything, the Nostromo N50 is a hot deal. The best price I could find online is $33 shipped. This pad has gotten some good reviews. Good find for gamers...

I bought the monitor. It seems like a great deal. I went to look at it and I was actually surprised at how sharp it was. It's 13.8" viewable. It goes to 1024 x 768 at 60Hz, and 800 x 600 at 85Hz (I am going from memory, it's in the basement right now). The "bundle" rebate does not require any kind of bundle, although you can get $50 more rebate if you buy a computer or something.

If you go to get it, here are a couple of tips. First, check the CompUSA website and make sure it is in stock at the store you want to go to. Second, BRING THE WEBSITE PRINTOUT that marill999 links! NO ONE at my CompUSA had heard of this deal. It rang up at the register for $300. The website says you have to bring the printout and that is all that saved me. The cashier didn't know what to do so she called the manager. The manager didn't know what to do so he took the printout, walked away, and came back with the Compaq rebate form. I told him that was for the mail-in rebate part, but there is supposed to be $100 off instantly as well. He said he wasn't informed of that. I told him it was on the CompUSA website, which was where I got the printout. I had to go with him to his computer and look at the page with him before he came back to the cash register and instructed the cashier to do some kind of override. They were very friendly about it, but I was glad the store wasn't crowded with a lot of people waiting for this transaction to finish.

Also, I think the Compaq rebate ends on 4/6, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the price of these fall drastically after 4/6. If that is the case, I hope I can find one last use for that AmEx Blue card!

Edit: Here is the page with the information about the mail-in rebate. The page also contains a link to the PDF form for the rebate.

I dunno - the Nostromo Speedpad is a pretty good deal. I know a lot of people who REALLY like this thing in FPS games. And for 20 bucks I might pick one up myself.

<< hahah, the c2100 is on sale for $499 after sale and rebate... that's been their regular price for MONTHS! >>

Too bad some foos called in cusa about a pricing error. The website said 49.97 a few days ago, someone forgot a 9 in there. So of course they fixed it.

I bought the monitor for 49.99 after rebates also. My experience was very similar to that of "FPSguy". People at the store level did not have a clue. It would really be nice if Compusa would at least send a copy of the online ads to the store, as it would hopefully reduce the time spent standing around as employees scramble to figure it out, which they finally did.🙂

I think this monitor will work just fine on my test bench. Sure, it's small & doesn't do high resolutions, but compact is great for this purpose, and the mike & speakers can also save space.

I picked up one of the monitors too.
Works out great for me since I was in the process of rebuilding an old system for my wife to use at her office where the desk space is limited. I had gone out over the weekend looking for an inexpensive small monitor and couldn't find any, so this was just what I was looking for. Plus wioth the added speakers, that was a bonus.

I went to the store first thing Monday morning and they had 6 in stock. As a couple of people already mentioned, the store employees were clueless about the rebates. It rang up $299, so I showed him the printout. He ran around with a few other employees and after 10 minutes or so, came back with the information ($100 instant, $150 mail in).

The monitor is a .28 mm and says it'll handle 1024 * 768, however, the refresh rate is only 60hz at that resoultion. The screen was flickering too much at that resolution, so I lowered it to 800 * 600 (refresh rate 85hz). It's fine now.

All in all, not a bad deal. If you're looking for a small monitor, it's a good deal.

Does anyone know if you can use the Nostromo Speedpad outside of games, to automate tasks in any software?
