For some people money is not an object and they have to have the fastest there is as soon as it is available. I say more power to them. We should really thank people like fLum0x because the people who pay premiums for the best out there help the card makers keep prices lower on the rest of their cards that we buy. Same goes with CPU's.

As for this being a hot deal, it is not, as it is merely the MSRP for these units that ATI had already set.

Call Outpost.com and get the VisionTek x800 Pro for $329 (NOT available on the website). Then mod it easily into having the extra 4 pipelines enabled and up the memory to the XT speeds using default cooling. Save yourself some serious overhead and tax (tax on $500 is alot more than tax on $329)

Agreed.

If you look at the resources this card needs it kinda makes you think it was made with a 64 bit platform in mind.

Hence it would be a waste of $.

This is hot because these cards are in VERY short supply. When someone gets them in stock they are gone within hours. I got mine from the first shipment at the CompUSA warehouse in Mesquite Texas when they got in 250 of them. In less than 30 hours they were ALL gone...

there aren't a lot of people that have been able to mod the pro into an XT

if you have a link showing the visiontek has been successfully modded, that'd be nice.

the ones that have been able to are made by sapphire.
