CompUSA eRebates

Does anyone know if a rebate check issued on a CompUSA erebates check is drawn only on their funds, or if it originates with the manufacturer? The original rebate form from CUSA asked to be sent the the manufacturer, but I did it online with eRates instead.
 
You are probably getting one from the manufacture and one from compusa, if you can do it online then you are getting it from compusa. If you have to send it in, then its from where ever you send it.
 
I already have the rebate check. I trying to determine who to return it to since the manufacturer already made a full refund of the purchase price.

The problem is, if I just shred it, and CompUSA was paid by the manufacturer, that would just let them keep the money. I would prefer to return it to where ever the money came from.
 
I'm still pondering this question. But, not just whether to return it to somene, but whether to cash the check. The reason for this is that if the rebate is strictly from CompUSA, then it would be the same as if I just sold the product to someone else and that fact would have no bearing on whether I deserved it or not. But, if the money originated from the manufacturer, it would be wrong to do so after they refunded my purchase price.

I wish that there was a way to know. I have thought about asking CompUSA, but considering the quality of the answers that I have gotten to other issues, I doubt that I would trust this answer. Aren't there any exCompUSA employees around here?

If you don't want the money, just destroy the check. There's no way to know what the terms of the rebate program were between CompUSA and the manufacturer. Trying to get it back to the proper party would probably be a lot more trouble than it's worth. Since you said the manufacturer already refunded you the purchase price, then you already know whether or not you "deserve" the money. The only question is if you're going to take it or not, and you'll have to decide that for yourself.

 
Why are you being such a nitpicking pain in the ass?

If you shred the check, funds aren't paid and I'm sure the issuing party will be re-imbursed.
