CompUSA has item number B69-1065 barebones kit on sale for $199.99 after $20MIR.

Kit includes:

LOOK AT THIS VALUE! Our Price: $219.99
EVGA e-7050/610i Motherboard - Qty: 1 $59.99
Intel Pentium D 965 Extreme Edition Processor - Qty: 1 $199.99
OCZ SLI 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 - Qty: 1 $44.99
Apex SK-393 Black Mid-Tower Case - Qty: 1 $39.99

?You Save $124.97

I've not kept up with hardware for the past couple of years but this appears to be a decent deal.

Fair warning: Pentium D was a lousy space heater CPU, and that clockspeed is only comparable to something like a 2 GHz core 2 or Phenom at stock speed.

This CPU would be fun to OC I think, I doubt the 610i could do a very high FSB though, multiplier may be unlocked.

Hate to say it but thats a terrible deal.

Ewiz has the E5200 retail box and Asrock motherboard combo deal for $98.00 shipped

add 4 gb ddr2 OCZ ram from newegg for $13.00 AR and a cheap $40 case, and you have about a 50% more powerful barebone for $50.00 less money.

with the $50.00 saved you could get a Hard drive, all you would need is $20.00 for a DVD burner and you have a nice midrange dual core rig for $220.00 total

with overclocking the E5300 would be closed to double the P4's performance.

Link?

NEvermind, it's further down the page.

yah an e2140 is faster than that cpu

No it's not. An e2140, since it's so cache-starved, is about comparable to a 3.0GHz Pentium D without HyperThreading.

This 965EE would approximately match up to an e4400 @ 2GHz.

This. But thanks for trying OP.

My bad. You're right - according to this graph, it's about in between an E2200 and E4400

I still use an ASUS P5WD2-E Premium motherboard with 955 chipset. The Pentium D 965 is the fastest processor my board will take. I bought a cooler just for it over three years ago when prices were way to high. I think I will top my old system off with this processor and part out the rest. Good bye my trusty old over clocked 805. I will retire you along side my old Celeron 300a and Pentium 4 1.8. But don?t feel too bad; your replacement will be short lived, because you were way over due for retirement.

Thanks OP!

Not bad....really. I mean sure, it's a little slower, but it's a flagship CPU from a while back too....which is kinda neat just to toy with from the hobby standpoint.

I still want a FX-55 for my old s939 parts..........just because.

Have to agree. Even Intel said recently that the lowest speed Core 2 Duo (excludes E1xxx/E2xxx as they are marketed as 'Pentium Dual Core') is faster than the fastest Netburst CPU. The last Phenom/Core roundup by Anandtech stated this exactly.

For less than $200, you could build a significantly faster system with better components, more overclocking potential that draws much less power. Intel or AMD.
