Well let's look at the past...
We went from serial COM ports, to parallel ports for printers. Now everything is going serial again. They will eventually reach a limit on SATA, and then start adding parallel processing again, making it PATA. PCIe is supposedly "serial", yet to increase the throughput, they are having to add more processing lanes. We are now at what, 16x PCIe? The slot is now about the same length as regular PCI! They thought it would save space on the motherboard. They were wrong.

CompUSA has had some good things on sale the past few days. I'll have to swing on by again.

The DVDs look hot. I wonder if they will work with the 3540A. Maxtor is smoking. 16MB cache is very very hot.

It is a great deal for thoose that can use it however my mother board only has 1 ATA port and I use that for Reader writer 🙁

That drive is a smoking deal however and I may grab one to throw in the server.

LOL 5 yr from maxtor? is htis possible i thought retailed HDs from maxtor were labeled 1 yr?

For tm37 who wants to know it it's PATA and for wafflesandsyrup who's going to go to the store to see what model it is, there's a much easier way to find out.

Type "compusa.com" into the address bar.
Hit enter.
Type "316138" into the search box.
Click on "go".

Voila! All questions answered! Try it, you'll like it! 🙂

I just returned from CUSA in Alta Spgs, FL. Picked up the hard drive, it is a 1 year warranty.

Re the DVD-R, the label says they are rated at 2X speed. I picked up three hoping that someone here has already run these through Nero Info Tool or some other utility to actually verify manufacturer and speed before opening. Any body have experience or knowledge of this media? At 2X, I could pass, even at this price.

I also see a:

Deskstar 7K250 160GB, 7200RPM, Internal ATA/100 Hard Drive
Product Number: 314482

$29.99

Was: $129.99
SAVE $100 after:
$10.00 instant savings
$90.00 mail-in rebate(s)

EDIT: you canny
I'd be pretty sure you could, in fact since it's an instant savings and not a rebate, you should be able to get it for $72 with the 110% price match.

Um, yes, it does. What question did you have about it?

Just PM to Staples cause it was closer of a drive... With taxes was $80.92 out the door. The drive only has 1 Year Limited warranty.

Anyone know what this "MHX Acclleration for ultra performance" is on the box?

EDIT:
found this online:
With Maxtor?s new MHX technology with dual processor architecture accelerating drive performance for multi-stream video applications. This with a cache buffer of 16MB, Serial ATA 1.5 Gb/sec. interface or PATA with data transfer rate up to 133MB/sec. The SATA version offers new MHX Technology with dual-processor architecture to accelerate drive performance for multi-stream video applications and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) increasing efficiency and performance.

not sure what it actually does though...

speaking of that i just purchased it from staples came out to 82.73$ thanks op!

EDIT: actually how you calculated the 110% PM is incorrect accoring to Staples the way they derived it was subtracting from their price(116.5) to compusa's which came out to 36.51 difference then they used the 10% to get the amount to subtract from 116.5 which got 76.34 with the applied tax i got 82.73

Well, my math was done according to the $159.99 on the Staples website, and for obvious reasons, I didn't include sales tax. Still a great deal none the less.

w00t! picked up the zyxel 802.11g router this afternoon. i thought they were all gone, but i found one that was hiding behind 2 802.11g super g routers. 🙂

seems to be working fine. at least alot better than my old netgear mr814 so far..

BTW these are 2x. I kept mine because I need alot of extra storage 🙂. Works great with the 3540A

I picked up the Maxtor 250gb and an acomdata external USB2.0/1394 external enclosure and fillilng it up right now 🙂

Pretty decent drive for the cash IMHO
