There is no "bang for buck" deal even CLOSE to this.

If you get one that will unlock, this is much closer to GT performance than the price would indicate. If it won't, it's still better than anything else you can get for $200..

Even after unlocking, the performance is not that close to GT.

What's the point of raining on his parade? I think we all know a card that a card that cost twice as much is faster?

I have a X800XT PE arriving this week. Would you be happy if I dropped in on your threads and pointed out the benchmarks I can beat you at?

Or how about if one of the guys over at nVnews that has SLI up and running told you how they're getting 50-70% better than you?

The point is, this thread is about 6800s, not 6800Us.

I would happily trade a 1000 points in 3DMark05 for $250 in my pocket.
 
It is nice card, it is available in the store near me. But i have 9800SE i made it pro by unlocking the all 8 pipes, and it was only $140. Does it worth to upgrade? i don;t think so 🙂
 
Don't get one of these if you plan to be using analog on them
They are widely known to have VERY bad analog quality.
I have one and I witness it myself. Luckily I use DVI.

The 6800Ultra/GT was the card that I felt would give me significant improvement over what I had and as well last much longer

I've never kept a video card a full year, so "last much longer" is a moot point for me. They keep bringing out better cards within a year, so I end up wanting those. 😉
 
Would the WMV and mpeg accel be just as fast with the 6600 GT or is this something that this card is lacking. im kinda new to this game. Also I know PNY makes a lot of comp stuff, but how does this compare to MSI and Gigabyte. I will not be overclocking i did read the review by anandtech about the 6600gt they did not mention PNY.
