I posted this on another deals site, but didn't see anything listed on AT regarding the sale, so here it is ;-)

I have Sunday's COMPUSA ad in hand, and as another thread mentions, the MIO GPS is $150. There are a number of Free After Rebate items that some might be interested in.. The ad is confusing as it does not mention which rebates are instant so I am including the shelf price listed in the ad(not including any rebates), though all items will be Free after Instant Savings and Mail-In rebates

The items are in a separate pullout which comes with the original ad.

the newer online rebates actually work well. I haven't dealt with it very much but it was smooth and came in a timely fashion about a month and a half.

The erebate do work fine, and I received mine very quickly.
The other rebates are always dicey.
Regarding the MIO GPS, I got one for Christmas and I love it.
Of course, it's the only one I've ever owned so my only basis for comparison
is Mapquest!:D

Just as a reminder, those of you that are near closing CompUSSR stores, they will not honor the advertised prices and will usually mark through the upc with a marker making getting rebates a hassle.

It looks as though most products have a CompUSA online rebate, and a CompUSA mail-in rebate.

What are the chances of actually getting these rebates?

compusa is closing stores, not its business. it just decided to close their unprofitable stores. afaik they will be around for a while.

just spent 300 on their FAR stuff.

I grabbed some of the wireless stuff (the USB adapter and the travel AP, not I can use my laptop wirelessly in hotel rooms even if the hotel is still using wired internet access). You can also never have too many compressed air cans.

Got the movie making software since it claims to do chromakeying (blue screen) and that's something that I want to play with with my kid (I regularly post in the software forum for someone to suggest a free solution)

I got both Norton and Kapersky for cross-competitive upgrade so they will end up both FAR (Norton is not getting anywhere close to my computers), I may use Ghost though since it comes with it. I don;t know if Ghost works on Vista, but I'm probably not upgrading for a year anyway.

I also picked up the Centon MP3 player for $25, but it's a piece of crap, can't figure out how to put music on it. drag and dragging folders tells me I don;t have write access, the manual references a "Media" folder that's not there (and that I can't create), and the manual is written in sort-of-English with unreadable pictures.
Since this was for a kid, I expected something easy to use.

Also grabbed a laptop carrying case for $10 that looks like it'll fit my 17" laptop

The Kapersky rebate is wierd, both rebates (including the competitive one) can be filed electronically. I've never seen that for competitor rebate. will they ask me for proof of ownership of another AV product at a later date? (I bought both Norton and Kapersky so I'm good, just wondering what the process is)

I have a 100% failure rate with CrapUSA. I finally wised up after the 5th failed rebate over a 2 year period. I suppose there is still some hope, but after 8.5 years, I'm doubtful I'll get them.

they got slammed with a law suite a few years ago, that's when they started offering decent online tracking as part of the settlement, and I have never had a problem since. You should be more worried about the mfgr rebates than compUSA's.
I keep good records, remember to check on status and set them straight when they tried to deny one, and I'm very close to 100% on rebates, from any source.

anyone know if you can buy and qualify for all the different wireless adapters?
If I bought 1 of each of Trendnet Wireless G PC/PCI/USB Adapters?

is it 1 rebate per product per person? or is there something that would not allow me to get a rebate for each type of wireless adapter?

According to the rebate forms, you can buy one of each.

Actually they are closing stores in markets they cannot compete in.

The two near me always had people at the register buying things. CompUSA blew it when they devoted so much space to big tvs and dvds. Their prices on them were not competitve with the likes of BB/CC/HHGs
