There are drives which benchmark faster, but you can't tell a difference while using it. This drive uses the Sandforce 2281 controller with synchronous NAND. The Vertex 3 Max IOPS uses faster Toggle NAND. By "faster" I mean benchmarks may give you a higher number so that you can feel good about paying more.
Because OCZ is dumping all their old stock on the market so they can prop up market share against better, more reliable newer drives from everyone else.
