I can't understand why CDR's are still hot. (Except for audio use)

I mean, you can go to a place like
https://www.thetechgeek.com/co...t/product.php?pid=5231">The Tech Geek</a>
and get a 100pk of DVD-R OR A 100pk OF DVD+R (with coupon code) for $19.99. (Shipped)

I ordered a 100pk and was sent 2-50pk's instead. So far i've used about 10 of them with one error. (my fault) I just backed up my computer using Norton Ghost and my DVD writer. It took a whole two DVD discs to complete. With a CD-R, it would have taken about 12 discs to do the backup.

BTW, I got a BTC 16X DVD-/+RW during the Staples Black Friday sale for $39.99. (AR)
So far, it's worked great!

Cause a lot of 2 disc divx movies can just be burned to cd instead of converting to DVD. I have tons of movies but htey are all divx. Converting takes too much time. My 100 pack of dvdrs I just bought will probably last me a few years. My 100 pack of cdrs lasted me a few months. I love picking up good cdrs and also crappy cdrs (mixes for the car or cdrs I know that I won't ever get back)

which is more palatable?
burn a .20 cd-r for 10mb of data (that doesn't fit on floppy without spannning and addt soft)?
or burn a .50 dvd for the same? that's right
plus win 95/98/me don't like multisession dvd anyway? that's right also?

mentioning om has $5 ridata 100pk cd-rw in in-store special this week

Wow, they still can't get rid of those RiData CD-RWs, huh? They've had them on "sale" umpteen times already, usually for $15, then with a $5 MIR off of that - are they $5 OTD now? That's pretty cheap, but they're still only 4x-speed. 🙁 If they were faster, I'd pick 'em up for "whatever" discs, but 4x is too slow for me.

Anyways, no offense to the OP, but ~$20 per 100 CD-Rs is about "normal" sale price, or at least has been for the last couple of years. I try not to pay more than $10/50 as as a general rule, and often you can find them on sale for half that. That's when I usually stock up. For the price, you would be better-off getting Maxell Ritek discs (often under $10/50 after MIR) than Memorex CMC/ProDisc media. The Maxells burn as well as the Fuji T-Ys do for me. Last time I bought CDRs, BestBuy had a 100-pack for $10 or so for silver/silver house-brand, turned out to be unbranded CMC, same as I found in my Memorex 30-packs from CompUSA that I stocked up on during last year's BF sale.
