These desktop ATX cases are a killer deal!
I bought two of them a couple of weeks ago. They came with 235W Sparkle PS ($22 + shipping, at Pricewatch), and 80mm 4pin fans.
They are well constructed, nice and roomy cases.
At $12.95 plus shipping, I almost want to order some more :)
I just don't have a need for them :|

Does that rebate qualify for that card? I notice the part numbers don't match on the rebate and with the part number on CompGeeks... different model? Can anyone confirm?

I just noticed Outpost.com has the same exact deal, but their part number matches the part number on rebate form and they have free overnight delivery!

Hey Y'all,
Just my $.02, but I'd suggest not buying the s3 Viper2. I have one, and it's nothing but trouble. Sure it posts decent marks in 3DMark, but it's glichy and it can't handle anything over a 66mhz AGP cclock. Check around and buy something a little more stable. Hell, for $40 extra, but a GeForce. That's all I have to say about that.
Thanks,
D

Review of the Viper II

Drivers - Windows 2000 WHQL Certified drivers for the Viper II Z200

Epinions

Pricegrabber reviews....

"Now that new drivers are out, this card is fantastic. For the most part, it's really speedy, and could now be dound for $120 if you look around. All new games are awesome if you download the newest drivers. Unreal Tournament is incredible, and the Viper II is faster than GeForce DDR at Unreal Tournament. All games using Unreal engine, it's awesome. (Deux Ex for example) Quake III is really good too. It's faster than most GeForce cards at Quake III, and all Quake engines. EA games are awesome too. (NBA Live 2000, Superbike 2000, NHL 2000, Madden 2000, and Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed) Get this card, if your planning on getting new games. Old games have a lot of glitches. BTW Klingon Academy, Trickstyle, and Boarder Zone look awesome. They support Viper II's S3TC technology, which only Savage 3D, Stealth III S540, and especially Viper II takes advantage of and have."

For $40 - a bargain!

I just installed the viperII on a second game machine I'm building. It's a decent card for the price ($60 outpost.com - $20 mir -$15 flooz) and works well with Celeron IIs overclocked on older BX boards.

Unreal looks great and Q3a is pretty good too. I wish I could find those s3tc levels that Diamond created for q3a. I loaded DiabloII and Mortal Kombat 4 (D3d)and both worked without a hitch. Will try to install Nocturne and Podracer next.

It's running on a C566@952 (112 fsb) Abit BH-6 with 256/100/2 RAM with no problems. Using win98se.

You should update the video card bios and use the latest drivers.

Best card I ever bought for $25 (well if I ever get the rebate).

How well is this card going to do with recent games though? Like the new Delta Force:Land Warrior for instance? Do the game developers have to write specifically for the card in order to get decent speed out of it?

i wanna get that viper2, it's a good deal at $40 but at $25 that'd be HOT! :)

yes i know that review said it sucked, but that review was a over a year ago, i'm sure the drivers have matured since.

um nevermind, after seeing this review at firingsquad done in february, 6 months after that sharky review, i've changed my mind, it's much too slow except for maybe only the most basic system. My TNT2 Ultra is about 25% slower but a MX would be much faster than either of them.

I'll go with the MX.

You simply can't beat this video card for $40. Got it overnight from Outpost 2 weeks ago and now waiting for my rebate. True you can add another $50 or so for a geforce but hey, there are some of us who can (like me a poor college student) only afford $40.
