Comps will ping eachother and talk to internet but won't file share HELP!

I have 2 systems on a LAN one is WIn2K the other is win98. A few months back they stoped talking to each other. I have tried everything I can think of including replaceing the NIC's. I can ping eather system from the other system and they access the net through the same hub and router with no problem. I hope someone has an idea what up cause I don't have much hair left.

?Computers not seeing one the other?, is usually a result of faulty sharing setting.

If you have Software Firewall on any of the computers, disable it and look carefully over the Network?s share settings.

Your problem is probably with the Win98 computer. It has something to do with "browsemaster" negotiation between the two machines. I had the same problem between XP and Win98 and never could fix it. I ended up putting XP on the other machine and have never had another problem.
