Compressing Videos

I was wondering how would I compress a movie to 700 MB. I always see movies on Limewire and there only 700 MB with DVD quality I was wondering if someone could tell me how to do this.

Thanks

1) Virtualdub
2) XviD - use two passes. Run 1 pass to get the video.pass file, then do a second pass. Drastic quality improvement over single pass, because it knows where it's going to need lots of dataspace.
Check out MSU Video Group's site for some nice plugins for improving low-quality video.
3) Software forum. 😉

Personally, I like to use 2000kbps for video, and 160kbps CBR LAME MP3. Minimal quality degredation, and fairly small files.

Jeff7: Do you demux the audio in VirtualDub before you process? My audio always seems out of sync when I don't separate the audio and video first.
