Compressing .mpg videos?

I have 7 minutes of video I need to upload. What's the best way to compress the video size without destroying my server? Link will be going to alot of computer newbie-ish people, so I'd rather not deal with like xvid/divx compression.


Suggestions? Links? Etc?

.wmv for the n00bs for sure. Grab windows media encoder. Otherwise, I do divx exclusively.

Learning how to encode in XviD/DivX really isn't hard, and it's probably the best thing you'll ever learn if you're big into videos. You can basically make yourself your own DVD(s) of tv shows and watch them whenever you want, saving both space, quality, and money.

While I agree - I think he meant he didn't want to make the computer n00bs on the other end install additional codecs.

mpgs do not compress well at all... it'd essentially be the same size.

2nd on the Windows Media Encoder. I use it and it works great.
