I have a can of compressed air and the nozzle part broke off. I want to get rid of the can but can't throw it out as it is. I took the plastic straw to poke the top to release the gas slowly, but the valve is now stuck open and there is a slow leak. I have the can outside just in case anything happens. Will the pressure run out on it's own? There is still some liquid in there.

Recycle it. You said is slowly loosing its gass. Thats good. Eventually it will run out and there may still be some of the liquid in the bottom which is fine. The important thing is its no longer under pressure and of no danger to you. Even if it was your not crushing it and the trash and recycling places are use to having canes like that go threw sreaders and compactors while they are still pressurised.

I've accidentally punctured one before. All that happened is it spewed out the liquid from the puncture until it ran out. There was no explosion.

Jeepers. I was going to suggest putting it in the back yard and and shooting at it. (grin) Guess I'm old-fashioned.

I used to get those for cleaning mobos or gunk around my table, but i decided to buy air compressor and I am happy I did instead of messing around with pressure cans.
