I have 3 partitions, 1 for Windows, 1 for storage, and 1 for installed apps/games. I was wondering if compressing the storage partition would be a good thing to do. Would I experience any noticable slowdowns? I keep mostly mp3s/DiVX on the partition

No I still have 20 some gigs free on the 55gig partition, but I was thinking of compressing and creating some dummy files in place of the space I saved.

As cheap as hard drives are compressing really doesn't make since. Also with MP3's and Divx you won't gain anymore space since they are already compressed.

Compressing is a drain on system resources. Also consider what you want to compress. Since your stuff is mostly MP3s, there is little to no benefits since those files are already highly compressed.

Go buy a new HDD for yourself. Save yourself from all the troubles that you'll get when a compressed drive crahses. :)

20 gig is ok unless u fill up space fast like dnlded movies or mp3. most programs are compressed already, so u cant compress much. i recommend just leave it as is
