Govt Slaves | October 2 2012

NOW we can understand why Monsanto and partners are so desperately fighting California’s Prop 37. This list is truly sickening. ~G

Rumor Mill News agent writes ~ I have always wanted to know which foods I have been eating are genetically modified. This article is quite ironic because I just ate a Hostess Cupcake (which I normally never eat) as a lunch treat. It tasted awful!
I remember when I was little how good foods used to taste. Reeses peanut butter cups used to be good too, now they taste like detergent. Fruits and vegatables used to be crisp and juicey, now they’re mushy and dry. Dorito’s used to be a favorite of mine, now they’re disgusting.
I just found this article, and the foods listed shocked me. Cheerios are GM food! This is another list of products everybody should boycott, just like the “Outsourcing,” list I posted last week, thanks to Lou Dobb’s and his fantastic coverage.
GM labeling on all food products is mandatory in Europe, but here in America consumer’s are left in the dark as to exactly what they are eating.
Here is the list of Genetically Modified Foods – get ready to clean out your pantry!Prepare to blow chunks, this list is shocking. A few general observations: The availability of Non GM food vs. GM food is about 50/50. Most “brand name,” products and corporate giants genetically modify their foods. Most foods listed under the “non-genetically modified,” section are not well known and are not considered “mainstream.”

No wonder my cycling FTP is up 70 watts in 60 days. I feel like Drago in rocky 4.

Every food you eat has been tampered with by humans.

If you don't like go grab a gun and go hunting and you might be able to find something that has not been tampered with.

I suggest eating it raw as cooking you meet could be considered human tampering.

came across this, but not sure about the authenticity of the site. anyway, if its true then wtf. they need to label all of these foods.

Why? Doesn't change the nutritional content. Doesn't change the food into anything different. The DNA from the original ingredient (corn, soy, etc.) no longer exists. Products made from GMO or non GMO material are exactly the same.

Now if you would like to label the pure product, such as corn on the cob, go for it. Makes much more sense.

Edit: Although labeling corn on the cob as a GMO product is pretty redundant seeing is how corn as it is today wouldn't exist without genetics modifications or enhancements.

Almost everything you're going to find in the grocery store contains gmo products. High fructose corn syrup is used in nearly everything and most corn is GMO corn.

xbiffx : your post reeks of ignorance. You post as if you actually know what you're talking about when you don't. They're obviously not exactly the same because they've been tampered with and the proper testing was never done.

We're basically beta testing all of this. All of this crap, GMOs, rBST treated milk, hormone soaked meat is likely responsible for rampant diseases like cancer.

To simply have the attitude that everything is ok is just irresponsible.

And you say my posts reeks [sic] of ignorance? Oh, the irony.

Claiming GMO is responsible for rampant diseases like cancer. GMO's haven't gone through proper testing.

Ever heard of the FDA and USDA?

Also, I would really like you to point and prove what I said in my first post that was incorrect.

Do you see the contradiction in what you posted?

Not to mention that you also decided to include 2 things that are not GMOs.

How about we compromise?

We can label all GMO food as

"Due to irrational liberal fear of science we must point out this food has been improved by people"

I have more evidence to support GMO crops being responsible for keeping alien invasion away. :colbert:

It's likely a hell of alot more than that. But it's a needed evil because as Paleo I can attest it is both expensive and hard to do with a dual income family.

If the US abandoned all GMO people folks really would starve. No fear mongering needed.

This isn't shocking.

Almost every prepackaged food item has a corn derivative or by product in it, and most corn in the US is GMO.

Do away with corn subsidies and sugar tariffs and the use of corn syrup would be near non existent resulting in 75%+ of that list no longer having genetically modified ingredients.

This is the source. Remind me not to ask you for a Doctor
My name is Gillian Grannum. I was a quiet child who read a lot and played the violin. I grew up in a normal dysfunctional setting (multiple ones, in fact) and was taught that education was the ticket to salvation. So I earned a Doctorate in Education and a Master’s degree in Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and, to this day, I still haven’t exactly figured out why.
I moved rapidly out of the world of academia to full-blown spirituality (some might say “avoidance of material plane requirements”). I hung out with Henry Miller at the Stargate Light Center and led the group meditation when requested. Concurrently with Henry’s sessions I stumbled somewhat haphazardly through “A Course In Miracles” and “The Keys of Enoch”

I could not grow non GMO sweet corn in my back yard without significant risk of contamination.
The list is way to short.
Last I knew Kellogg had no problem with GMO being delivered to Battle Creek. In other words all of their corn based products are GMO.

What would be the point? Sugar would substantially cheaper(half as much) in the US if not for protectionist tariffs.

I mean why the heck do you think Coke from poor countries(Mexico/India/etc) uses real sugar and not corn syrup, its because sugar is substantially cheaper than corn syrup in other countries.

You have subsidies for corn, which lowers the cost of corn syrup and sugar tariffs that raise the cost of sugar. Until both go away, the majority of prepackaged food will have GMO stuff in. I am not saying GMO is good or bad, but the fact of the matter is it is so wide spread because of stupid US policies started decades ago.

The point would be to improve yields resilence to pests, etc of sugar plants. The same reason for doing it to any other.

So you want America to be dependent on foreign food sources...

because that works out so well for oil.

EDIT: And I assume the reason they use Sugar in poor countries for soda is because their inhabitants are not yet addicted to the stuff so they have to give them the superior product :D

Perhaps because of where those countries are located, sugar is more readily available? Corn is much more plentiful here in the US, which makes it cheaper.

Has a lot to do with supply.

are we going to go through this shit all over again?

Its bad enough the anti-GMO activists had orgasms over a severely flawed study, now we feed their paranoia with this list.

good grief.

A simple phrase such as "Contains at least one GMO" would be a rather simple thing to add to packaging, and it would provide the rather simple information that the food contained therein was made from at least one genetically modified ingredient. This would appease the tree-hugging, anti-science, ingorami (such as myself) with the desired information upon which we can base our own decisions about which items we want to purchase.

All of the brilliant people who perfectly comprehend the effects of all of the genetic modifications, in of all of the approved genetically modified foods, would still be at liberty to purchase all of their favorite foods, even with that piece of information listed on the packaging! The presence of the simple phrase on the package isn't going to give the food cooties, so it will still be perfectly safe (?) to eat! It's very exciting.. I know.

I am willing to pay more for food to be part of the Control Group. Willing and enthusiastic consumers of GMOs can then be part of the Test Group. We are, in that case, both getting what we want, without much more trouble to food producers than the keeping track of the origins of their ingredients and properly labeling their products.

I don't think every genetic modification made to every food is going to result in a negative health effect. Rather, I do think it very likely that a few genetic modifications made to a few foods probably will have a negative health effect.. and that a minute few might turn out to have a serious, negative health effect.. as the companies profiting from patents on the newly created food genes might either be incapable of perfectly predicting the effects of their modifications (likely, I think), or unwilling to fully and objectively test the effects of their modifications (also likely, I think) because doing so would have a negative effect on profits. Furthermore, I have innate suspicion of the published results of a test which has been conducted by an entity whose profits will be affected by the findings (conflict of interest). Lastly, at least one of the companies, which is performing the genetic modifications, I trust no farther than I can see in the pitch black.

I'm trying to think of a (good) reason why such information should not be included on food packaging for the edification of interested parties. Does anyone have one? (Hint: The grave prediction of a possible increase in paranoia, and the horrifying possibility of orgasms over the results of safety tests don't even come close to qualifying.)

If you are concerned by GMO, just buy organic only. It's what I do.

there's a video out there where some fancy organic store was caught on secret video admitting their organic shet was also GMO'd. i have been eating froot loops for 30+ years now. if i get the canc, i now know why
