Components for Laptops?

Does anyone know where I can purchase components to build laptops from the bottom up? I can't find any vendors who sell motherboards, case-displays, ps units, etc.

Not from the bottom up. Laptops are generally very proprietary and completely integrated. While some vendors such as Dell and Toshiba offer a degree of flexibility with configurations, you will not be able to construct a laptop from the ground up.

There are many considerations involved such as cooling, voltage, power....all of these are far more important in a laptop than in a desktop.

Right on Andy! The only way you might be able to build a laptop from the ground up is to somehow gets parts for a particular OEM machine, but even then you'd probably end up paying at least twice the amount as if you had purchased the whole machine from someone else. Laptop parts (in general) are quite expensive.

I'd once considered buying parts to build a laptop but after working the the laptop repair biz for the last 3 years I know it's a pipe dream to do so. I'll stick to desktops. 🙂
