I got my digital cable box hook on s-video and it look very nice on my television. There is a HD cable box that exist ( that is hook up with component cable )

I am not talking about the HD channels(widescreen ) but regular channel, is there a difference s-video vs component like there is a difference s-video>video>cable ?

What i want to know is will i get a better picture quality by having just my system hook on component cable( green blue red white yellow )

You will get a better signal with component vs s-video. Whether you can notice the difference with your eye depends.

The difference in quality of s-video vs. composite is much bigger than s-video vs. component. Realistically, you'll probably notice very little difference for cable signals. The big advantage is that you can do HDTV over component.

Its more like my digital cable i want to know if i will notice a difference on the Non-HD channels by switching from my Digital cable box to a HD digital cable box.

I know i will get a major difference between HD channels and others, but just wondering if beside the 15 channels in HD i can get, if its worth if for all the other non HD channels

I just posted a similar post on JS's thread in Hot Deals, lol. In a nutshell, when I tested my stuff out, the s-video picture looked sharper and the component cables had better colors. So just ask yourself what you want - sharper image or better colors. Or buy both and eyeball it, you can get cheap cables on ebay (Python brand works great and looks nice too).

When my bro picked up our new tv, I got some different cables to test it out on. I used "The One" on DVD (with Jet Li) as my reference. Coaxial looked fine to me, it was what I normally watch movies on. Most of the televisions in our house only have RF input. I pulled out an s-video cable and gave that a try. It definately made the picture sharper. I paused the DVD on one shot where it's zoomed in on a guy's arm and you can see a police badge with text on it. Switching between RF and s-video, the text was MUCH more ledgible with s-video. It didn't do much for color or anything else tho. I then tried out some component cables (Python brand, from ebay - I like em a lot!). The component cables improved the color a LOT. The difference was very noticeable. The picture wasn't any sharper, but it was almost like going from black and white to color. It wasn't an enormous jump, but it was very noticeable -- the colors were much more vivid. So, that's my take on cables. RF is fine for me, s-video makes the picture sharper, and component cables give you better color. I left the component cables on, simply because I bought them and now and own them. Truthfully, I just like watching movies and 10 minutes into the movie I couldn't care less if it was a 20" TV with audio from the TV or a 32" TV with surround sound :)
