It wouldn't be good for using as a network cable you carry around. It would not hold up very well because its 1 solid copper wire. The cable isn't real flexable so after a while the copper wire would get brittle and break. It would be fine for running a network through your house (i.e. installing wall outlets). Hope this helps.

I've bought this kit four times. We have it running through two floors of offices up, down and around the warehouse to the FedEx and UPS machines and through the ceilings.

I guess data has a problem climbing a vertical run (?!). It works. It bends. I don't know about brittle. This cable has lasted several years already. After you lay the cable when do you move it around? Us, never. It's in the ceilings, walls, running along baseboards and stapled to the wall in long runs.

After a few years of moving furniture and laying even more cable the runs get forgotten and we just lay more cable. Now we are switching to wireless in many offices. Believe me this is quality enough cable. If you need better than this then CG is not the place for you to shop in any case.

One more thing - CG has a 10% discount codes posted everywhere but here, with certain restrictions. Also FW has a rebate.

Free shipping is a deal!!! Business must be slow....

It's not a quality issue, it's just not plenum rated, so it won't meet fire codes it it's run through a plenum. I don't think this matters for home use - maybe if you need to have your network wiring inspected.

What Derektm is talking about is that this is solid wire, which is good for in wall use since it stays put, but not ideal for patchcords, since it's not very flexible. You can still use it for patchcords, but stranded cable is really better (or just buy preterminated patchcords, they are cheap).

It's been mentioned in other threads, but prices are higher on several items to make up for the "free" shipping (and there are no Green Light savings today). Besides, "free" shipping on orders greater than $50 is standard at lots of other sites.

If their sales volumes are lagging, it might be because they've been experiencing problems with shipping the wrong stuff. They sent me the wrong motherboard 3 times in a row when they had the free shipping weekend 3 or 4 weeks back. They cross-shipped replacement and dispatched Fedex to my house to pick up the wrong board, then did it again, then did it again -- never sending the correct part. Now, I'm still waiting on the credit back to my Card.

First order I ever had an issue with (I've ordered 8 or 9 times from them), but they screwed that one up enough to send me looking elsewhere.

Ah, they're learning. Last time they had this promo, this was no minimum purchase amount, and I bought an extreme large $5 item (DDR dance mat) that must have cost them more than that to ship.

This site is impossibly hard to get around. Where are HTPC cases? Where are SD cards?

I could probably spend $200 bucks here.

I still think their 500va UPS w/AVR is a good value at $30. I previously bought two of them when the were on special for $25 shipped. They have a 9000mah battery inside which is larger than whats found on some namebrand 500va units. Wish i could fit a car battery in the casing :p

You would have to buy two units to qualify but $60 shipped is a good price for them imho.

Line-interactive = AVR (auto voltage regulation)

45 min left on their free ship promo btw

The last time they had the free-shipping weekend, they had even ADVERTISED the Green Light Specials on Saturday and Sizzlin' Sunday here @ FW (then didn't deliver the Sizzlin' Sunday).

After the problem with my order from that weekend (detailed in an earlier post above), they still haven't credited my bank card for what they didn't deliver. I'm gonna give them a few more days (since they assured me again on the phone last week they were "working on it") before I dispute the charge.

They definitely seem to be trending downward -- I hope they will be able to turn it around.
