Hi,

I rushed into buying some equipment without checking the standards compliance (i assumed they were fine).

I bought a 3com 3C905CX-TX-M NIC (non-wireless) with the following specs...
*Compliant Standards*
IEEE 802.1p
IEEE 802.1Q
IEEE 802.3
IEEE 802.3U
IEEE 802.3x

It will be wired to this router, D-Link DI-624 (802.11g) Wireless 108Mbps Router
*Compliant Standards*
IEEE 802.11g
IEEE 802.11b
IEEE 802.3
IEEE 802.3u

From which will be a wireless connection to my laptop (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g)).

So the question is, can I have IEEE 802.3 from the wired NIC to the router. Then IEEE 802.11g (wireless) between the router and laptop NIC???? I'm looking for 54Mbps. Also, the router is capable of 108MBps, what would I need to have this speed over the whole network.

Please help, mnay thanks in advance!!

Reading is Good, reading too much can get you confused.

Just set the thing and it would work.

The 802.11g is only between the Wireless Client and the Router.
