Completing POST problem

ok guys, I need some help here. I have this machine, its a somewhat older HP pavillion 850mhz, 320mb PC100 RAM, etc...
This computer is basically a re-build. I put in new memory and hard drive. I was able to install windows 2000 and other peograms before leaving work but...
when I went to plug it in at its final destination, it wouldn't complete the POST. It will read the memory (320mb system memory....OK) then it would hang after displaying the following:

UMB upper limit segment address: E86C

(note that this is before scanning the IDE devices)Now, I have checked the memory, the slots and it isnt that because I brought in a third stick and tried different vatriations of different sticks in different slots. Any help would be apreciate, thanks.

try the good ol' groundup approach. Remove all excess cards, unplug hard drive and floppy. Test POST process with each memory module and go from there. Good luck!
