I've been beating my head on the wall on this and can't solve it. pc was having some windows errors pop up and steadily got worse so i fugire i'd format and start it new. I tried installing xp pro and 2k from confirmed working disks and every time during the copying files stage it stops and says a file is missing/corrupt/can't be copied, its always a different file.

I tried a different hard drive, cdrom, and different copies of xp and 2k and still the same issue. i've had this pc for about a year and never had any issues like this.

Flash your BIOS to the latest version. If you are using a SATA disk, make sure you are using the correct drivres

You have to post more info:

Pc (make/model) motherboard? CPU? Ram?

Without knowing any differently, I'd take a look at your memory (RAM). If you have more than one stick, take one out. Try install. No good? Put back the stick you took out and remove the other one.

usually when i run accross those errors, its a bad HDD... could be what was causing your OS to flake out in the first place, nice name btw, ATHF is a great show

I pulled out one of my sticks of ram and had no troubles, kind of upsetting since its from Crucial.com. Thanks alot for the help guys.

Good deal. Crucial will replace the RAM, free. That's the best thing to say about any company. Not that you'll get a defect every now and then, but what will they do about it?
My experiences with them have been excellent on replacements.
