Why use two account if Presidential Bank pays better interest?

because ing is 2% with any amount of money. presidential has a minimum balance to get the 2.75%... i checked when i saw that cause i was gonna get a presidential account if the interest was higher.. but im too poor.

Presidential bank is 2.75% interest for up to the first $25k, after that it falls to 1.75% or something like that. I don't think there is a minimum amount you have to have at Presidential for those rates, but you do have to have direct deposit enabled for something like $200 or $300 a month. So, if you have a job you pretty much meet the minimum requirements.

I use NetBank myself. Just check with FDIC to make sure your account will be insured.

You do have to be careful. I've seen notices about some online banks claiming to be FDIC insured when they're not. Any questions, check www.fdic.gov. There's a link there to check if your bank is FDIC insured.

Excellent advice.

GiantBank.com appears to be FDIC insured but their web site sure does suck.

I am going to check out this Presidential Bank.

Go use First Internet Bank of Indiana. I love it. I get interest on my checking account. Reimbursed up to 6 dollars on ATM fees per month. No fees if your account is above 500 dollars.

I once had a cash deposit stolen from me at a Keybank ATM, and First Internet of Indiana credited the $200 dollars to my account. I can't say a single bad thing about them.

I've been using FirstIB for several years now also, with no problems at all. Free electronic bill paying also, which I use extensively.
Their old interface was much nicer though IMO ... they redesigned the site about a year ago.

Someone refers you, they get $10 and you get a free $25 bonus.

How much are you initially investing?

Presidential Bank looks good on 'paper' but I've never heard of them before.

Anyone got the guts to put $$$ in their coffers?

There's no need to.

They are FDIC insured just like local banks in your area.

They have been rated the #1 checking account by at least 4 publications.

2.75% on a checking account is amazing. After I get my $150 free bonus from CitiBank, I'm switching to Presidential's Internet Plus checking acct.

I wonder why the 2.75% Presidential account states "Internet Checking PLUS account requires an electronic monthly deposit of $200 or more from payroll, annuity, pension, or a business account."

Why wouldn't they allow electronic monthly deposits from personal accounts?

What's the average rate of inflation? I'm wondering if 2% for savings is really all that much. I only have $300-400 on hand, where should I put that?
