Complete newbie wants to root HTC Incredible

As the post says, I'm starting from scratch here as far as phone geek knowledge but have read enough that it seems like rooting my phone might be worth the brain damage. The phone is not under warranty, but I'd just as soon not F it up. Are there any apps available that can walk me through this process? Thanks in advance for any help.

Check out xda-developers.com and go to the forum. I'm running an Inspire 4G and it wasn't all that hard. I used the hack kit and had to create a gold card. Backed up my data, ran the hack kit, then I was rooted. Then I just upgrading my radio and RIL, flashed to a new ROM, and now I have GB 2.3.3 w/ Sense 3.0

The INC is super easy to do, one of the easiest phones to root I'd say. You should have no problems after reading a couple how-to threads.
