complete drive defrag

so basically i am trying to defrag my laptop hard drive...i have 17% free and i cant defrag a HUGE portion of my hard drive mostly games, and am wondering if there is a way i can defrag those files so my pc can run smoother.

Ditto what Rottie said - I use PerfectDisk version 8. It is better than DK IMO. But - the core issue is that you need a bigger HDD. Once you have less than 25% free space, you will generally experience slowdowns even with defragging. Freeboard rules!

To see if you could get what you have now defragged, try booting into safe mode and running a defrag there. I have also ran a defrag, and then rebooted back into safe mode, and ran another defrag, and done this a few times to get through problem drives.

Another option is move large non essential stuff to a USB external drive, defrag the system drive, then move it all back.

That's a good solution! But . . . if you do that, why not just leave the non-essential stuff on the external drive? Your system really needs more freeboard.
