Compiling Azureus

Downloaded Eclipse, downloaded the source for Azureus.. and now I'm not sure how to get it to run.
Can anyone be of assistance?

Sorry, but this thread has been crapped to death by inconsiderate posters.

Hmm you can download the binaries directly, don't have to compile anything. Unless you want to, of course.

Because I want to change the way it operates, slightly. I guess my question is more directed to Eclipse in general, rather than Azureus in particular.. since I haven't used that development environment much.

I'd help you jk, but I think if your mods were really something worthwhile then someone would have done them already.

Isn't the point of OSS that you can modify it to suit your particular needs? If you can assist me, please do so.

Not at all. The point of open source is that the community as a whole can make contributions to the software that benefit all users, not just themselves.

Isn't the point of bittorrent that you play by the rules and not leech?

The point is that *you* can modify it to fit your needs. However if the community decides your needs aren't in the community's best interests we don't have to help you do squat.

If you knew enough about java to make the modifications, you could. You don't so you're SOL, deal with it.

And no, I won't help you.

Yes.. and I believe it's technically impossible to hack the BitTorrent client to "leech" (ie. download w/o uploading.. ). All I want to do is to disconnect from the torrent when I'm done downloading the file.. instead of using my limited, shared bandwidth for uploading, or "seeding". I do this manually, anyway..

I do know Java.. I just don't know how to setup the Eclipse development environment (VS, for example, has "project" files which make things much easier).

Well, if you can help me and won't, expect the same response from me if ever you request help. That'd make Anandtech forums pretty useless, wouldn't it? "I know the answer but I'm not going to help you". If you could assist, I ask you reconsider.
