The average car weight for MY2010 was just a hair over 4,000lbs. Now this is all light-duty vehicles, non-commercial, so trucks are included.

Jesus! 😱 What car weighs 5000lbs?

My car only weighs 3200lbs and it is a midsize 4 door sedan.

My car is pretty average too but I don't hate it. I've had it for 9 years so there's a certain joy out of driving a vehicle that is paid for and doesn't cost me much to operate.

Rolls Royce and Bentleys weigh over 5000lb

Camry. And I don't daily drive it if I can help it, and if I'm forced to because of excessive rainy days, as I said, I'm not comfortable with it and absolutely hate it.

All things fair, your Camry, IIRC, is the V6 version and is pretty quick for that segment. At least your not rocking the 4-cyl Camry like I always get for a rental. THAT is a dog...🙁

It's not the car I hate. It's just the chest pounding antics of other drivers around me that have something to prove when I'm in an underpowered or older or less shiny car that piss me off. If you are in a weaker older slower car than the majority, you get targeted by douchebag's egos.

I make a complete stop at a stop sign. Dude going 45-50 in a 45 1/4 mile away from a stop sign. I pull out and quickly accelerate with plenty of time and distance to spare. As soon as I do, dude must have floored it as soon as he saw me roll away from the stop, because by the time I'm going 60 now, I see previous dude gaining on me hard and suddently trying to go 61. What's that all about?

Oh he has a shiny new car and I don't, that's all it is. If I was in something else, say a Cobra or Vette, we all know damned well he'd never have bothered whipping it out of his pants in the first place.

Little pissing contests like that every 30 seconds on average is what pisses me off about driving a weak car, not the car itself.

Alot of people in this area with various weak ass trucks and Altimas and just average cars that are 5% better than other average cars and they are too eager to rub it in or something when they see a weaker slower vehicle.

I don't do well when surrounded by groups of chest pounding apes or pushup taunting lizards; makes me just want to nuke the entire city to be rid of them. I have zero tolerance for alpha posturing deliberately directed towards me. Driving around in something with a rattle on it's tail and a red skull or hourglass on it's belly and obvious fangs and claws and venom to deliver as promised has a way of keeping those people behaving and not being pricks. eg: there are certain types of people in certain types of cars who would cross a double yellow in a blind turn to pass me "just because" while doing 60 over in a Camry but who will stay back and won't make an aggressive move at all if I'm going 25 in the Cobra.

Used 335Xi with a JB4 is sounding good right about now for a rainy day beater. Or I can just move out of this turdhole. I'm told people don't drive like that most other places in the US. Tucson must be alpha posturing pissing contest capitol of the US or something then. Sounds about right given our socioeconomic, cultural, and geographic location... I hear it's the norm in Mexico to push and shove and drive ME ME ME ME and just run other people off the road. Male machoism seems a big part of that culture that's been migrating up here.

Back to cars... yeah it's a stupid and silly reason to make a car purchase decision, but I won't be "machoed" around day after day every 30 seconds on the road by random asshats who think they own the world in their V6 Altimas and V6 Chargers with their obese tatooed arms hanging out the window.

Oh I'd have a blast on a track day event in a beat up Miata or BRZ with 100 HP at a track with other car guys just having fun. It's just simply not something I could daily drive every day knowing that the most common average joe cars on the road that attract some of the most aggressive drivers can kick me around like a toy to their own amusement.

In my opinion the Mustang V6 is only better than the BR-Z if it has the GT suspension package which you can't get for $21k.

I don't think the Mustang is a better car, I just don't like how slow the BRZ is in comparison to other cars. It's not like it handles well because it's expensive. It uses normal components including humble struts up front!

Lot of meth addicts maybe? I've been to Tucson a couple times for the gem show there (used to work at the Gemological Institute of America) but it didn't seem any worse than anywhere else but that was over 10 years ago too. Maybe people just get cranky living in the middle of the desert. It's not a bad town but yeah, I wouldn't want to live there.

I don't get people trying to race me at all in the Maxima. When I'm on the bike I rarely get that either because I think most car guys know that they aren't going to beat a bike. Still, every once in a while some guy in an M3 will try. :sneaky:
