I call BS. I've been doing minesweep steadily for the past 4-5 monthes at work here, and I'll be damned if I could break 180 seconds. How in the hell can you do it in 90-100 seconds? Please share, that's like marking a bomb about every second and in the mean time clearing out space. Maybe I just suck.

OMG you guys are really fast... 89, 94, 104...

My best is 124, and it's unlikely I can do any better. Pretty common to score under 150.

I did successfully complete one with an "8"; that was pretty cool.

What about the other levels? My best beginner is 6 and intermediate is 41. I don't play those too often though.

It's easy - you just click and hold the title bar and the clock stops. :) Not saying that's how these people are doing it, but it's not hard to cheat.

I've done the beginner one in 2 or 3 seconds years ago, but that was just lucky. The intermediate one on this PC is currently at 62, and the beginner one is 6.

I certainly don't do that. I do click both mouse buttons at the same time to clear multiple spaces at once instead of doing them individually. I don't know if that is considered cheating.

That shouldn't be cheating at all using both mouse buttons.

My clock doesn't stop when I click the title bar. Am I doing something wrong?

That's not cheating, that's an intentional feature in the game. I can't imagine anyone getting a good time WITHOUT doing that.

Either they fixed it, or I remembered wrong, or you're doing it wrong... I never used that trick, only saw other people do it. Maybe if you click and hold on the smily face? Just make sure you move the mouse off the smily before you let go. I dunno, anyone else know how to do it? I don't have Minesweeper installed.

What?!? I never knew you could do that! Thanks for the tip; guess I should have read the instructions in the help file earlier... Now I should have a chance at a sub-100 best time.

I also found that time does stop if you right-click and hold it down on the title bar (I'm on XP Pro).

i got those times on my older computer with a different mouse about 5 years ago. i gave up trying to beat my beginner and intermediate level times. i have only broken 100 on expert once since. always get somewhere between 100 and 120. and i do use the click both mouse buttons thing. discovered that in the help file so it's legal, hehe. i can't play it any other way now. great game though. i have turned my attention over to freecell, more of a challenge.

Whoooo... I spend wayyyyy too much time playing minesweeper. Its just about the only game I play any more because its so quick and simple so I can play as a quick break but then I can't stop playing... :(

A little over 100 seconds. I don't remember exactly.

BTW: A lot of it is luck. You could theoretically finish it in 2 seconds if the mines are aligned properly.

Back when WFW3.11 was popular there was a cheat for minesweeper. I think you typed "xyzzyx+<shift>+Enter" (not entirely sure if this is the exact key... it's been a while!) and the topmost pixel on your screen would turn white. When you moused over a square with a mine, the pixel would go dark.

I remember doing that in college (about 10 years ago) and amazing my roommates.

Heheh, simple tricks. I think they removed the cheat in Windows 9x and future releases.
