Hey there,
I have an asus P5A Motherboard with 128 meg of memory and an AMD K62 450 cpu, I was wondering what would be the best 32meg or better video card to use with this system?
I had a Stealth lll s540 32 meg board I was going to try to use in it but I had a lot of problems, the floppy is not ever accessible even though it seems to be recognized. It isn't the floppy, I don't think, cause it works with a different vid card in there.
This card was working fine in another system but that motherboard fried the cpu and damaged the system memory.
The stealth card worked well on this new system except for the problem with the floppy, maybe someone has a suggestion to solve that problem?
I am running win98se.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

I'd get a V4 4500 or so for that mobo.. it really does not like NVidia cards and doesn't like some ATI cards, your best bet is no doubt a 3dfx card and I believe (not being a huge 3dfx freak) that the only 32 MB card they have is the V4. the V5 is 64 and the V3's are all 16MB.

I don't know the answer to the vid card question but maybe someone can help you with the floppy problem if you post this to the troubleshooting board?
Good luck,

I've used a Savage 4 card with no problems, and am using a Diamond Viper TNT card, also with no problems. I did have to do a clean install when I switched cards.

I was running that exact system, except with 192mb of Ram. I used a Rage Fury, Rage Fury Pro and a GeForce2 MX with the board without any problems.

I'd love to know how u ppl got a TNT based video card to work in that mobo.. I had a V770 TNT2U and I had to just leave it and buy a new video card cause it WOULD NOT WORK NO MATTER WHAT
most people said it was a lost cause to even try.... and it was.. i had no success whatsoever. and the only way an ATI Rage Fury would work in it was with the exact right AGP drivers.. v1.65 i believe... if those were not in.. no go..

the only card that worked flawlessly in there was a Voodoo Banshee 16MB AGP.

Stick with an Nvidia card, actually, almost all vid cards work, as long as you have the latest ALI AGP patch installed. Acer LabsI cannot stress enough the importance of the latest ALI AGP driver/patch. Until you install it, all other diagnosis is moot.

Those patches have been out since the chipset was introduced, and are updated frequently.

Rule #1: If using a VIA, ALI, SiS chipset motherboard. ALWAYS go to the respected manufacturer's website, d/l and install any AGP/IRQ drivers, THEN continue with the install of any add-on cards.

They were.. but none that would allow my TNT2 to work at all.. my wonderful $350 video card sat in my desk for 6 months until I got some decent power (Celeron and Asus P3B-F) it was light years better for compatibility.
