The AMD website has a list of compatible memory module chips that can be used with their socket 939 Athlon 64 processors. My question is...how do you determine what type of chips a certain stick of RAM is built with? If you go to the websites of manufacturers like Corsair, Kingston, and Crucial, they don't have detailed lists of the model number chips that are used on their various types of RAM. This makes it somewhat hard to match the AMD list with actual products. I'm sure AMD didn't make the list for end-user builders like me, so how can I determine what chips different sticks of Ram consist of?:|

Well...so far I've tried Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL RAM and also Kingston KHX4000 and neither of them will run stable in dual-channel at DDR400. It may be compatability issues with my motherboard(Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939) but AMD tech support is claiming that the on-die memory controller is NOT guaranteed to work in dual channel at DDR400 speeds. I know some people have gotten their systems to run with either different RAM or a different mobo. I can't keep spending money to swap out parts and retest my system, so I'm trying to get some concrete answers before making my next move.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939(F5 bios)
Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL(run at DDR333 to keep stable)
BFG GeForce6800 Ultra OC
(2)WD Raptor 74gb sata drives in RAID 0
Maxtor 250gb sata drive
Thermaltake XaserIII case
Windows XP Pro SP2

I'm running Corsair XMS 3200XLPT DDR400 in dual channel mode at stock speed and voltage @ 2-2-5-2-1T timings and it runs splendid on my MSI K8N Neo2 Plat. motherboard w/ an AMD64 3500.
Your problems may lay with your MB or maybe your memory settings in BIOS.Have you tried manually setting the timings?Mines works either way, manual or auto SPD.

POHEMI420: Wich motherboard are you getting or do you already have it?

Well...I'm definitely getting a different mobo whether or not I keep this chip. I'm thinking of back-tracking to an AthlonXP 3000 mobile and overclocking the hell out of it. I'm questioning how long it will be until Windows 64 is ready for widespread distribution and there is more 64 bit driver support. I'm tempted to just go back to something tried, tested, and true instead of continually worrying about compatability issues on new chipsets and processors.
